The Law of Karma vs. Positive Thinking The Law of Karma in its most basic sense can be viewed as a spiritual and material cause-and-effect cycle that leads the human soul through its chain of reincarnations – every action must have a reaction, an effect. (When we speak of action we refer to deliberate, intentional, conscious action and not unconscious or involuntary action). We have seen this Law being applied in the physical universe as well, formulated by Sir Isaac Newton which states that every action must have an equal and opposite reaction. As you sow so shall you reap. Similarly, in the Law of Karma if we do a righteous action, eventually we will get a righteous result, and if we do an unrighteous action eventually we will get an unrighteous, bad result. This can be applied to any aspect of our lives and I would just like to look at this from a health aspect for now. Scientific evidence has been shown to prove that certain medical conditions have been linked to certain emotional blockages….. There has been many books written about this Quantum Healing by Deepak Chopra, Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, Your Body Speaks Your Mind by Deb Shapiro , You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay … just to name a few. As Practitioners we understand the Mind-Body link concept by either having experienced it ourselves or seen a shift/change in our clients. So allow me pose to you a scenario… If for instance, in this current life we were meant to get a ‘bad’ reaction (a certain health condition) as a result of some ‘bad’ action we have done in our past life, can this be changed? Surely if something was ‘meant’ to be then that is beyond our control. So, on that basis, what is the use of positive thinking? Can positive thinking and NLP help to relieve past ‘karmic’ actions? Can we change our Karma? Or are we destined to live out the consequences (positive and negative) or past actions? Hmmm… now there’s something to think about!
