Crẻche
The crèche is thriving at the moment and it’s
great to have several bouncing babies and
lively toddlers on Sunday mornings. If you
would like to help on the rota, please let Lilian
Gilbert [email protected] - know.
Trinity Toddlers (Friday mornings)
Lilian reports that Trinity Toddlers is
filling up with lots of new children. Over
the next few weeks, they are going to be
getting ready for the Christmas Tree
Festival at Trinity – see opposite - by
making angel decorations. They’re also
going to try finger-painting Christmas
trees - sounds fun!

Junior Church on Sundays
Rededication Sunday
Junior Church has been exploring
themes in Mark’s gospel, looking at
the different ways in which people
responded to Jesus, and considering
Harvest and ‘Creation Time’. Craft
activities have included a poster of
autumn leaves and teardrops of
repentance.
On Sunday 13th September, we
celebrated the work of the children,
young people and their leaders in
our Junior Church Rededication and
Attendance Awards Service. The
theme of the service looked
forward to the Rugby World Cup,
and we wrote prayers on coloured
rugby shirt-shaped cards, created a
‘rugby machine’ to get a ball
around the church, and many of
the children came proudly dressed
in their own rugby shirts
On Sunday 4th October, we looked
at the response of the Pharisees to
Jesus. Often they tried to trick him
with their questions.
Sarah tried to trick the Galaxies
group with some questions too
- see if you can answer these!

Ten birds were sitting in a

Before Mount Everest was

world?
How much dirt is there in a

If a plane crashes on the
border of The United States
and Mexico, where would the
survivors be buried?
We looked at the themes of
training, teamwork and gifts, and
Tim, Yaw and Kwabena shared
their own experiences.
It was a great chance to celebrate
all the different ways in which
children and young people are
involved in the life of Trinity, from
participation on a Sunday morning
during the service to enjoying a
week away on the Southern Synod
Youth Camp.
Summer Synod Youth Camp
2015
During the first week of August, a
group of approximately 20 young
people took part in the annual
Southern Synod Youth Camp in
Honeywell Campsite near Maidstone
in Kent. Activities included kayaking,
archery, swimming, movie making,
tie-dye cushion making, swimming,
geocaching, and rock climbing. The
young people had a great time
learning new skills, eating delicious
food and making new friends. Alex
said that he really appreciated the
space they had on site to play
football and mess around, while
Hannah enjoyed the Masquerade
Ball that they prepared for during
the week. Both highly recommend
the camp - we’ll keep you posted on
the details for next year.
Pilots
Pilots, our fortnightly Saturday group for
children aged 5-11 years, has been
focused around Zambia, looking at the
flag, language and family life in the
country. The games sections of the
afternoons have been spent in ‘cross the
river’, ‘wink murder’ and a number of
races, while they have been drawing with
chalk in their craft slots. They’ll be
meeting on Nov 7th, 21st, and Dec 5th.

Holiday Club
We will be
running again
the popular
Trinity Holiday
Club this halfterm holiday – from Monday 26th
until Wednesday 28th October in
the Mansel Road Centre. It will be
based on the Scripture Union ‘Polar
Explorers’ material and the three
days will be full of creative
teaching, games, craft, songs,
prayers and Bible reading as the
children take on the roles of ‘polar
explorers’ going on miniexpeditions to learn about some
New Testament characters. It’s for
children aged 5-11 years and
costs £4 per day or £10 for the
three days. This is a great chance
to get to know new people - please
spread the word and the flyers
which are available from the desk
in the Mansel Road Centre and
from Gillian and Hannah Jones.

Friday Fellowship
The Fellowship resumed on 11th
September and, as they had requested,
Gareth brought along his 'Wings of Glory'
game - fuelled by plenty of tuck. The boys
spent the entire evening involved in this
tabletop game of WW1 aerial combat - we
think they'd have kept going for hours, if
there had been time!. Lydia and Graham
also led pancake-making with the boys
helping to make the pancake mix, without
the use of weighing scales, and then Lydia
cooked them. There were enough for a
couple each, and the toppings they chose
ranged from the classic lemon and sugar
to more exotic varieties, including
smarties!
I hope that you will enjoy this fourth edition
- thanks to those who contributed or helped
in some way, not least Sarah who created
most of the content. Please do provide
ideas, photographs or any suggestions for
the next edition. Happy Autumn and
Christmas – so many things for you enjoy
at Trinity! Elizabeth
