THE MINDSET OF A SERVANT
Part 1 of 2 in Miniseries: Serve

To be a servant you must think like a servant.
“My servant Caleb thinks differently and follows me
completely.” Numbers 14:24 (NCV)
In your relationships with one another, have the same
mindset as Christ Jesus... Philippians 2:5
1. REAL SERVANTS ARE ___________
“Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
Matthew 10:39
Jesus emptied himself by taking on the form of a
servant. You can’t be a servant if you are full of
yourself.
A sure way to be miserable is to be self-absorbed.
2. REAL SERVANTS THINK ABOUT THEIR
___________ RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT WHAT
OTHER SERVANTS ARE DOING
We will not compare ourselves with each other as if
one of us were better and another worse. We have far
more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us
is an original. Galatians 5:26 (MSG)
Who are you to judge the servants of someone else? It
is their own Master who will decide whether they succeed or fail. Romans 14:4
3. REAL SERVANTS BASE THEIR ___________
IN CHRIST
Jesus modeled how secure He was with Himself by
doing something so menial as washing feet.
You may brag about yourself, but the only approval
that counts is the Lord’s approval. 2 Corinthians 10:18
4. REAL SERVANTS ARE FOUND ___________
“I have brought You glory on earth by completing the
work You gave Me to do.” John 17:4
The one thing required of servants is that they be
faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2
What motivates us to be faithful to God in our service?
Gratitude for what He has done for us.
The reward that will come to us in our future.
The belief that what I am doing matters.
You never retire from ministry/service.
A servant learns the difference between prominence
and significance.
Conclusion:
Invest your life in something that is going to outlast
it. God wants to say this to you, “Well done good
and faithful servant. You’ve been faithful with a few
things so I will put you in charge of many things.”
Matthew 25:23
