Borrowing library eMagazines
Zinio
NSLD pays a yearly subscription to Zinio for NSLD cardholders through book sale funds. You do not need to buy
any issues to download the titles in NSLD’s eMagazines collection.
Getting Started
Create Zinio / RBDigital Account
1. You must access the Zinio link from the www.northsuburbanlibrary.org website (Not from the
App and Not from zinio.com).
2. Click on ‘Search eCollections,’ then click on ‘Search eMagazines.’
3. You will be taken to the landing page with magazine covers. Click on the ‘Create Account’ button.
4. Enter your library card barcode number with no spaces.
5. Click on Create New Account. Enter the required information.
6. User Name requirement: 4 or more characters in length, and only alpha, numeric and the
following special characters are allowed: -(dash) _(underscore) @(at) .(period) ,(comma)
7. Password Requirement:
7 or more letters or numbers—no special characters allowed
8. Click on ‘Submit.’
Checking Out or Reading Magazines
1. Once you are logged on, click on a magazine you would like to read.
2. A button will appear for you to check out the magazine. Click on the ‘Checkout’ button.
3. A pop-up box appears with ‘Keep Browsing’ or ‘Start Reading.’
4. If you wish to read the magazine right away in your browser, click on ‘Start Reading.’
5. If you do not wish to read the magazine right away, and you wish to check out more magazine
issues, select ‘Keep Browsing.’
6. Check out as many magazines as you wish and keep them for as long as you wish. No due dates
or late fees and no placing holds — patrons may use the same magazines simultaneously.

Return Visit — Checking Out an eMagazine on a Desktop PC or Mac:
1. Visit www.northsuburbanlibrary.org using your browser, (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari,
etc.) NOT the app.
2. Click on ‘Search eCollections,’ then click on ‘Search eMagazines.’
3. Login with your Zinio User Name and Zinio Password.
4. Click on a magazine to check out.
5. A new window will open. Click on ’Checkout,’ then click on either ‘Keep Browsing’ or ‘Start Reading.’
6. If you wish to check out a different magazine, return to the ‘Magazine Detail’ page tab to return to the
starting page.
Viewing Checked Out eMagazines on a Desktop PC or MAC:
1. If you are not already logged in, visit www.northsuburbanlibrary.org and click on
‘Search eCollections,’ then click on ‘Search eMagazines.’
2. Login with your Zinio User Name and Zinio Password.
3. Click on ‘My Collection.’
4. The titles you checked out should appear.

While logged on, select the ‘My Collection’ link.
You will see all the titles you checked out.
Click on the icon of a trash can below a magazine cover.
Click on ‘OK.’
Zinio App:





Free & available for iPad/iPhone, Android, Windows, Kindle Fire HD/HDX & Blackberry Playbook.
Create your account first before downloading the Zinio app.
Zinio app is not found in Kindle app store. Use link at bottom of Zinio page to download app.
The app is for reading offline, not for checking out new titles.
The app syncs your checked out NSLD eMagazine titles across computers and devices.
Nook Color or Nook Tablet users: The Zinio app is not available through the ‘Nook Apps’ store yet.
Nook users instead may read NSLD’s eMagazines online through their browser such as Safari, Internet
Explorer, or Google Chrome.
