Black Cats are the
New Arrivals at Clowder House
It was a dark and dreary night.
Ok...Ok… It was dark - it was
11:00 p.m. It was not so
dreary, but it was
Friday the 13th. A
group of Clowder
House volunteers
went out to eat after
another full evening
of cleaning. We
walked back to a
parking lot where
one of our cars was
parked, the only car
in the lot at that
point. Nothing appeared amiss or unusual. As
we were getting in the car, one
of the volunteers suddenly
noticed a thin, black cat sitting next to the car in the way
of the door. She bent over to
touch the cat, and the cat
jumped in the car and onto
her lap. Did that cat ever
know the right car to pick!
Our newest resident is named
Triska, short for Triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number
13). As per our usual luck,
Triska may be with kittens (as
they say in polite society) we should know for certain by
mid-September. Stay tuned
for further updates and possible kittens who will need forever homes!

A Little Night Mewsic
Furball 2010 - A Little
Night Mewsic - will be
held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Forest
Park Golf Clubhouse off
Lagoon Drive. The evening will feature smooth
jazz (dancing for those
who so desire), a sitdown dinner and silent
auction. The color theme
for the evening is “black
and white” - think piano

This venue has lots of
space and good parking.
Invitations will be mailed
in early January. If you
know of anyone not on
our mailing list who
should be, please email
the address to our website or leave a message
on the Clowder House
answering system.
Although we have already begun putting together another spectacular silent auction, additional donations are always welcome. Remember, this is our primary

Clowder House Calendar
We have been working
hard for several years to
create our own professional
looking wall calendar. This
year, we finally are ready.
Our 12-month calendar features our own Clowder
House cats and kittens engaged in various activities
as captured by photographer Michelle Broadwater
and artist Karen Weidert.
The price is just $12 (add
$3 for shipping) per calendar, with all proceeds benefitting Clowder House. The
photography work and
printing costs have been
generously donated. And,
the calendars will be available mid-October, just in
time for holiday gift giving!
While a limited number of
our calendars will be avail-
able at several
retail outlets in
the metro area,
purchases and
orders may also
be
made
through us and at our
upcoming October events.
Please keep in mind that
every 100 calendars sold
allows us to rescue another
homeless cat or kitten.
“No Heaven

Memorial & Honorary Tiles
unless my cats
are there to
welcome me.”
An artist friend of Clowder House has agreed to partner with us in creating memorial and/or tribute glass
tiles to grace several of our hallways and offer a way
for you to honor or remember a favorite pet or person.
These tiles measure 3” by 6” and are a pleasant green
that matches our floors and hall artwork. Tiles may
include up to 3 lines with maximum of 100 characters
per line. The price is just $50.00 - a small price for a
lasting legacy. Please contact us to order your tile.
Helping Hands
Clowder House is lucky to have a wonderful core group of volunteers who tirelessly and faithfully come in at least
once every week to help care for our feline residents and clean their "home." Cleaning (that means lots of scooping
and floor detail) is a hard and often dirty job. But, our volunteers recognize that a clean environment equates with
happier cats (and volunteers and visitors). We also have a core group of volunteers who regularly help brush and pet
the cats and yet others who assist with special projects (ranging from newsletters and artwork to handyman repairs
on the cat furniture and the building in general) or events such as trivia night and Furball. Without the help of our loyal volunteers, Clowder House would cease to exist. As our population, space and needs expand, we are always on
the look out for more helping hands. If you would like to take on the challenge, or if you have a special project you
would like to work on to benefit our residents or CH in general, whether it be at our facility or some sort of event outside of our confines, please contact Amy by phone (CH 314-776-7877) or by email at [email protected]. We
would love to have you join us!
Make a Donation to Clowder House
The generous dona ons of cat lovers enables us to
provide the valuable services we offer our
“residents”. With increased support, we will be able
to expand the scope of the services we offer.
Dona ons of any size, at any me, are welcome.
If you would like to arrange for endowments or
planned giving , please contact us at 314‐776‐PURR
(7877) or at [email protected] .
We also accept non‐monetary dona ons like bedding
and cleaning supplies – check out the Wish List page
on our website for details.
We’re on the web!

Expansion Up-Date
Our new FIV, isolation ward and vet treatment area
are still not complete, but there has been lots of
progress. We only need to install the windows and
doors and stain and
seal the floors. We
have been using the
space anyway in emergencies when kitties
like Triska show up unexpectedly. The outside windows for the
outdoor play area have
been painted and lots
of plants have been potted for the garden, but we are
still awaiting the actual enclosure. Please come see
the progress and keep your fingers crossed that the
work will be completed soon!
