In the truth that we all know, there
is something deep in the heart of every
person that longs to make a covenant
with another person. A blood covenant
is the closest, most enduring, most
solemn and sacred of all contracts.
Shemiyah
(Lee Keener)
Those who make a covenant will be
loyal to it to the point of shedding
their own blood. That is why there
is blood shed at the time you make a
covenant: it means that this agreement
is made at the expense of your life.
In this day and age of
Rights
It is easy to lose sight of the rights we have as creatures
made in the image of God. These are our birthrights.
It is the right of every human being to look into the
eyes of at lest one other person and totally, absolutely trust him, to know that he would never
deliberately do you harm and only seek your good.
The f irst blood Cov ena nt
This desire to be bound together in
covenants — to promise your life, love,
and protection unto death to another
human being — is inborn in all men
and women. Its origins can be traced
back to the most ancient of cultures.
It is in human beings because it is
in their Creator. They are like Him,
created in His Image. This desire is
behind the desire in men and woman
to marry.
The love story behind the first
blood covenant is very significant.
The love was between a man and
his god. The man was Abraham, the
patriarch. The Almighty recognized
the good in the heart of this wonderful
man and began a relationship that
became a very deep friendship. The
Almighty referred to this man as
“Abraham, my friend.” Their mutual
love culminated in the desire for God
to make a covenant with this man. He
made promises to the man and then
shed the blood of several animals in
an awesome display of pillars of smoke
and fire. God affirmed His absolute
faithfulness to this friendship in a
blood covenant… God Himself made
vows upon which He set His very own
existence as a seal.
Being created in the very image of
this God, Abraham in like manner felt
driven by his love to fulfill his part of
the covenant. Thus, an eternal bond
was formed. Marriage is also a blood covenant.
It is sealed by the shedding of blood
upon the union of a man and a
woman.
The marriage covenant is a
covenant unto death. Breaking
it would be breaking your word,
permanently marring your good name.
A man’s word was once so binding that
only a handshake was needed to assure
that the agreed-upon contract would
be kept. If a man gave his word he was
staking his life upon it. Men of such
character are rare indeed in today’s
society.
The marriage of two pure
virgin young people portrays the
true meaning of a man and woman
becoming one flesh in the sexual
union. In the Bible, the significance of
the shedding of blood in their union
is meant to establish the permanent
bond of marriage. It means that all
other aspects of their relationship are
right and ready. That union enhances
the personalities of both the man
and wife, when it is entered with
integrity. It is the foundation for all
trust between them. This is the basis
of a moral society. Where that trust is
forfeited, men and women have turned
their backs on their birthright. The
birthright of human beings is to be
like their Creator. Like Him, men and
women who truly enter into a covenant
will never break it, no matter what the
cost.
When a man and woman come
together in physical intimacy, it is the
most profound statement by the two,
that “my life is yours — just as I give my
body to you, so I give my whole being
and all my love to you until death.”
This is the absolute standard in every
person’s conscience. If the moral
standards of man break down, the
physical standards follow. The society
of today is rampant with all sorts of
sexual perversions and the terrible
diseases that follow such a lifestyle. All
this devastation is a direct result of the
abandonment of covenant love.
Good F ru it
But if there is a good foundation,
then the life and fruit from such a
union will also be good. And so you
will see the natural outcome of such
a union — a happy married life with
wanted, desired children who grow
up to be moral, responsible adults
——
who respect other human beings. This
is the basis upon which the order in
all human society flourishes. Apart
from this foundation, societies will
crumble. We see the sad seeds of decay
everywhere today.
In Matthew 7:17 it says, “Every
good tree bears good fruit, but the
bad tree bears bad fruit.” The fruit of
marriage will be either the wanted or
the unwanted child. They are both
marked for life by the sense of security
they have as young children. The lack
of good fruit later on in life inevitably
points back to the bad beginning
— that the sexual intimacy between
the parents was less than the highest
expression of covenant-love between
them. Selfishness fathers selfishness;
insecurity mothers insecurity. How
hard is it to straighten a tree that has
been bent wrong in its youth?
Mutua l Selfishness
In today’s reality, the very word
covenant is all but meaningless. A
contract is the closest concept most
of us have. Instead of entering the
covenant of marriage, couples now
sign pre-nuptial agreements, dividing
up their assets in anticipation of the
time when their mutual selfishness no
longer allows them to keep their word
and live together as they vowed.
How serious is it to violate the
covenant of marriage?
Really serious. What was lost can
never be regained. It is like a deadly
virus that has infected the whole body.
Once triggered, it sets in motion a
whole chain of events that feed off one
another until the end result is reached.
And, oh, how great will be the loss!
R estor ation
There is only one remedy for the
deadly virus that would cause a man to
break his word. The solution is found
in another covenant… called the New
Covenant. It is the promise of a whole
new start… a clean slate, nothing held
against you. That is why it’s called new.
It is the covenant made with us by
the Savior of the world. It is a covenant
sealed by the shedding of blood… His
own blood, untainted by the virus of
sin. He did it out of His love for us,
without a hint of the
selfishness of a covenantbreaker.
In the love and
marriage of a man and
woman, one gains a
glimpse of the greatest
love story in the universe,
that of the relationship
of the Messiah and His
people. In the Scripture
it says in speaking of the
loyalty of man and his
wife, “I speak of a great
mystery to you, but this
signifies the Messiah and
His church.” (Ephesians
5:32)
Pur e V irgins
Virginity was once
a normal sign of the
wholesome goodness innate in prudent
and civilized human beings. It was seen
as cheap and tawdry to trade in your
virtue for mere self-centered, fleeting
pleasure instead of reserving your
whole being for the one with whom you
would enter into a life-long covenant.
Woman bears a sign of virginity in her
flesh. Behind that sign lies the essence
of her identity in creation — she is
the bearer of life. That was the name
of the first woman, Havah, or Eve, the
mother of all living. In fulfilling her
created purpose, woman finds true
dignity.
When a woman kept herself pure
for her husband, it was a sign that she
——
was also reserving for him alone the
love that is able to conceive life. In
civilized cultures all over the world this
has been seen as a noble thing, that a
young woman would so guard herself.
Likewise, the young man reflects in his
purity the strength of character that
will the foundation of his whole future,
and will assure a life of moral integrity.
Today, of course,
it is seen as a light,
inconsequential thing
to lose your virginity.
Yet, the handwriting on
the wall reveals that this
choice is reaping grave
consequences.
The word of God
once again proves
true, affirming that all
sexual relationships
outside of the covenant
vows of a husband and
his wife are selfish and
without foundation.
One who retains his
moral purity shows that
he fears and honors his
Creator. The loss of the
honorable and essential
place of virginity in
society today signals the loss of the
birthright. There is an inevitable
cost to violating one’s conscience in
such a fundamental matter — it does
irreparable harm to your ability to
form deep relationships. It damages
the most godlike aspect of humanity
— a person’s ability to make and keep
a covenant.
BirthRights and
Cov e na n t Br e a k e r s
In this day and age of men
demanding their rights, it is easy to
lose sight of the rights we have as
creatures made in the image of God.
It is the right of every human being
to look into the eyes of at least one
other person and totally, absolutely
trust him, to know that he would never
deliberately do you harm and only
seek your good. Every married person
should be able to do this with his mate.
This trust reflects the nature of God
Himself and His heart towards man.
But those who violate the spirit
behind the covenant are militating
against the very nature of God.
Breaking the covenant is divorce. It is
everything that God is not. That is why
it says “God hates divorce.” Marriage
between man and woman is a type
of marriage between God and His
people… (Malachi 2:14) — Marriage is
to be honored. He is the witness.
T h e Cov e na n t of
Friendship
Men and women need friends.
They need other human beings who
don’t fear the cost of being their true
friend. Yes, there is a cost to being
a real friend, because when you get
involved in someone’s life, even as a
friend, there must be a foundation
that can withstand the floods of life.
It is the godlike quality in mankind
to strike up a covenant of trust, a vow
to put your trust in. It is like the old
Native American custom of becoming
“blood brothers.” By cutting themselves
and mixing their blood they made
clear they would be brothers who
would remain loyal until death. But the
demands of friendship are too high
for the selfish heart. Unwilling to pay
the price, most men live lives of utter
loneliness, and their personalities and
character remain fragmented and
immature. But the deepest friends
find in their friendship a commitment
that, though costly, is deeply satisfying.
Mankind finds this satisfaction because
they are the image bearer of a God
who is love — covenant love. 

Like a
Beehive
The word for community in Hebrew
is edah ( hd[), which also means
beehive. This word portrays the way a
group of people or hive of bees live
and work together with a common
identity and sense of purpose. Bees
live a selfless life of devotion to the
bee kingdom. They have no concern
for themselves but only for the hive
and the constant production of
honey. So it is with those who are in
the communities of God.
——
Have you ever watched a beehive? It is fascinating seeing
thousands of little bees working together to produce
honey. As you come near the hive, you can hear an
exciting buzz as they go about the many tasks necessary to
keep the hive alive. The workers are responsible to collect
nectar and guard the hive. The young bees keep the hive
in good condition, feed the larvae, and support in other
household chores. There is never a dull moment in the
busy life of a little bee.
This is much like the life that we have. No matter what
we do, we love to do it together. Daily we gather to thank
our Master for His salvation, and to hear Him speak to
us through one another. This gathering keeps alive a
genuine love and care for each other. As we work, we take
advantage of the daily situations, guarding ourselves from
the selfishness and pride that would come in to separate
us and take away our love. Our children are a vital part of
our life. We not only educate them, but we work with them
to accomplish the simple tasks necessary to maintain a
family life. Our life is not a dull routine of chores, but is
full of the warmth that comes from the sweet fellowship of
friends speaking their hearts to one another, celebrating
the Sabbath every week, and participating in weddings
and festivals.
But there are a few things that differ in our life from
that of a beehive. One is that we are not driven by instinct
or controlled by something separate from our own will.
Each of us is here because we chose to leave behind our
own separate lives to increase the life of this hive. Our
life is not enclosed like the hive of a bee, nor do we have a
stinger to harm any uninvited guests. We welcome anyone
to experience our life with us. Please come and see what
it is like to be part of a beehive of people expressing the
warmth and love of our Creator. 

Our Twelve Tribes
O
ur banner is love for
our Father in heaven. We give
our whole hearts to serve Him night
and day for the hope of the promise
He made to our fathers, Abraham,1
Isaac, and Jacob, in order to attain for
them what He promised.2 We serve in
their place, to overcome where they
did not, in order to bear the fruit that
our Father has always wanted3 — a
people, young and old, who will keep
the way of Yahweh in righteousness
and justice.4
Our confidence is that if
we bear that fruit, overcoming our
spiritual enemies by the grace and
faith He provides,5 then Messiah
will return to bring an end to this
wicked age and give to Abraham’s
descendents the enemy-free land
He promised him.6 Then He will
establish His throne in Jerusalem,
with His twelve apostles on twelve
thrones ruling over the twelve tribes
of physical Israel.7
Now in this present age the
prophecy of Isaiah 49:6 must be
fulfilled in order for this restoration
of physical Israel spoken of in Acts
3:21 to take place in the next age.
As Matthew 5:17 says, the reason
the Messiah came was to fulfill, not
to annul the law and the prophets,
its instruction and prophecy. The
prophecy includes Isaiah 49:6. Only
by the very Spirit of the God of
Abraham can his seed — his spiritual
descendents — do this.8 Isaiah 49:6-8
parallels Acts 26:6-8. Verse 8 in each
case is the resurrection of national
Israel’s twelve tribes in the millennial
age.9 In Isaiah 49:8 the age-old
inheritance will once more and
finally be given to the descendants of
Abraham, and they will be a twelve
tribe nation in the next age. But this
can only come about after spiritual
Israel overcomes all of his spiritual
enemies10 and binds the Serpent11
in this present age. Hebrews 10:13
takes teamwork of all the spiritual
but corporeal twelve tribes together
in this age. According to Acts 3:21,
“heaven holds Him” until Hebrews
10:13 is accomplished. Then Matthew
19:28 will be restored, and that will
be in the next age, culminating in the
fullness of Messiah and His bride.12
So now, in this present age,
Matthew 21:43 says the kingdom was
taken away from them, natural Israel,
and given to Gentiles13 who would
become that twelve tribe spiritual
nation. In order to produce the fruit
of the kingdom, a new nation had to
be born, the nation of 1 Peter 2:9 and
Isaiah 49:6. They would attain to what
He promised Abraham in Genesis
15:18 by the grace available through
Messiah.
God’s promise to Abraham
was a self-cursing oath as Jeremiah
——
34:18-20 describes. He had Abraham
cut the calf in two and He passed
between the parts of it.14 True
covenants are all but lost today, but
in ancient Israel for a man to make
or cut a covenant was to call down
curses upon himself if he failed to
keep the covenant. The Lord was the
promising party. Abraham and his
offspring keeping Genesis 18:19 was
what would allow Him to bring about
the promise. But they did not bear
the fruit of Genesis 18:19, so Jesus
Himself prophesied in Matthew 21:43
that would be left to another people
to bring about the promise God made
to Abraham concerning the land
as an everlasting possession to the
natural descendants of Abraham.
So, as Paul spoke in Acts 26:7,
Abraham’s spiritual seed15 would do it
for them. In Acts 13:47, Paul applied
the prophecy of Isaiah 49:6 directly
to his own apostolic ministry. The
restoration of the twelve tribes of
spiritual Israel spoken of in Isaiah
49:6 will bring about verse 8 — it will
cause natural Israel to inherit their
desolate heritage. This is exactly what
Paul understood and expressed in
Acts 26:6-7, which brings about verse
8 — the “resurrection” of natural
Israel, just as Paul longed for in
Romans 11:12-15.
This transfers the responsibility
of the covenant to a new people
— a “new Israel” — to bring about
the promise He made to Abraham.
Jeremiah 31:1 is established by the
New Covenant of verses 31-34 to bring
to pass Matthew 19:28 in the next age.
The covenant God made
with Abraham represents God’s
very own reputation and character,
and the awesome responsibility He
placed upon Himself to fulfill the
promise, and upon Abraham and his
seed after Him to do what God chose
him to do.16 God actually put Himself
at risk, knowing that He would have
spiritual descendants of Abraham in
Messiah to do for them what they did
not do for themselves.17
Isaiah 49:6 is that nation, the
holy nation that Peter spoke of in 1
Peter 2:9-10, and that Paul claimed
as his own in Acts 26:6-8. They are
the twelve tribes raised up among
the Gentiles, outside the borders of
physical Israel,18 who serve night and
day for the hope of the promise made
to our spiritual fathers, Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob.
Israel is Israel only as
a completed whole. Israel is
Israel only as a twelve tribe nation.
Jacob had twelve sons. Jesus had
twelve apostles. The nation has twelve
gates19 and they are open night and
day. In fact they never close.20 The
Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” 21 

A New
Social
Order
W
e are members of a new society, a
new social order. The peace that
reigns in our midst is not due to laws
and law enforcement. We do not do
things out of obligation, but because we
choose to. In this life of love, no one has
a right to be cold to his neighbor. Malice,
put-downs, and paybacks are foreign to
our way of life. Love restrains us from
striving to get ahead of each other, from
taking advantage of one another, from
turning our backs on one another when
times get hard.
Everyone knows what the old social
order is like, in which each person is
responsible for his own life and the lives
of his family, if he has one. Once people
have food, clothing, and shelter, they
may try to be kind to their neighbors.
But there is a limit and there are barriers
— racial, religious, political, and
economic. No matter how many laws
are passed, the walls between people
still remain. Even within families there
are barriers. One brother has his set of
friends, the other has a different set,
the sister has still another. And many
families can’t even sit down and have a
simple meal together without fighting.
A R adical
Solution
The new society we live in is not
this way. We have found a radical
—10 —
The new
social
order we
are talking
about is
not ideal.
It is real.
solution that enables us to love. The
chains of fear and guilt that used to bind
us have been broken.
Who can love when the barrier of
guilt rises up? That barrier is the painful
weight, the sudden memory that comes
up when you are with someone you
have hurt, or someone who has hurt
you. Who can give when he is afraid of
losing his possessions, his time, even
his own life?
Our Master Yahshua,* the Son of
God, has washed away our guilt with
his own innocent blood. He has given
us the power to forgive others just as he
forgave us. We have received the same
spirit that raised him from the dead
— his Holy Spirit. Now we can dare to
suffer loss in loving others, because fear
and guilt no longer have any power over
those who trust him.
The new social order we are talking
about is not ideal. It is real. Ideal
societies are the territory of dreamers
and intellectuals. No one has ever
thought up an ideal society that actually
works in reality. In fact, there is no
location on earth where you can observe
an ideal society at work. Man-made
societies are based on laws, and laws
can only limit evil, not create virtue.
No, this new social order is not
perfect. We who were raised under the
old order are faulty in our love. The
*See page 14 for an explanation
of the name Yahshua
—11—
desires of the self tug at us, and we
are continually in need of forgiveness.
But our Master Yahshua gave his life to
pay for our sins so that we could forgive
each other and press on towards the
goal — that his new order would one
day fill the whole earth.
So it is not because of rules,
regulations, or even religious principles
that we in this new social order live
together and share our property and
possessions. Bible verses do not have
the power to cause people to love and
respect each other. The Bible by itself
can’t even make people agree on what it
says. The tens of thousands of Christian
denominations are ample proof of this.
The old saying “Birds of a feather
flock together” aptly describes every
social institution of the world, including
all religions. Unless forced to do
otherwise, people naturally gravitate
toward others who have a similar
self-interest. So in Christianity, for
example, you have the white church,
the black church, the rich church, the
poor church, the conservative church,
the liberal church, and even the “gay”
church. Today, there is a denomination
for every inclination.
The saying holds true even for
communal living, both religious and
otherwise. Whatever “intentional
community” a person joins depends on
his intentions. Some rally around a social
cause, others a political agenda, and still
others a doctrine or philosophy. But
the deeply rooted barriers of guilt and
fear spring up even there. Ultimately,
self-preservation outweighs all other
considerations and even birds of the
same feather find it difficult to nest
together for very long.
Yet, despite these overwhelming
obstacles, the prophet Ezekiel, 2500
years ago, recorded a vision of something
new and different. In his vision, God
Himself took a tender shoot and planted
it so that it would grow up to become a
mighty tree:
Under it every kind of bird will
live; in the shade of its branches
will nest winged creatures of
every kind. (Ezekiel 17:23)
This prophecy might seem obscure
and unimportant if the Son of God had
not echoed its words some 500 years
later:
What is the kingdom of God like? ... It
is like a mustard seed that someone
took and sowed in the garden; and
it became a tree, and the birds of the
air made nests in its branches. (Luke
13:18-19)
—12—
This new kingdom is a social order
ruled by the God of love. He is the
“someone” who planted that tree. It is
His doing. It is not because of man’s
ideals or laws that we are able to live this
life of love, but because of His Spirit.
Restoration
All the prophets since ancient times
have spoken of this new social order
in which all things are restored — the
relationship between humanity and God,
men and women, parents and children,
and between the different races.
Some will not be able to see
the difference between what we are
describing here and a dozen utopian
ideals and philosophies. Some will feel
that it is too good to be true. But there
are those who are ready to do the will
of their Creator, and they will know
whether this is actually God’s kingdom
we are talking about or just something
we made up. To gain this life costs you
everything, but as Yahshua said:
Those who want to save their life will
lose it, and those who lose their life for
my sake will save it. (Luke 9:24)
All who really believe that he died
as a payment for their sins will no longer
live for themselves but for him — giving
all their possessions, time, and energy
to see his people flourish and his justice
prevail.
If you are looking for a nice
community where you can do your
own thing, you would certainly be
wasting your time to come here. But
if you desire to live a life of selfsacr i f ici ng love, t o exp er ienc e
the deep soul satisfaction of doing
what you were created for, we
invite you to be a part of this new
social order that is re-emerging
on the earth. r
To gain this
life costs you
everything...

The
I
Name Above
n the days of John the Baptist and the Son of God, the
preserved language of the
devout Jews was Hebrew. So, when
the angel Gabriel brought the
good news to the Hebrew virgin,
Miriam (or Mary in English), that
she would give birth to the Savior
of the world, and told her what
His name would be, what language do you suppose he spoke?
Hebrew, of course! And certainly
Miriam and Yoceph (or Joseph in
English) named the child just as
the angel had commanded them
— Yahshua.
In Matthew 1:21, your Bible
probably reads, “…and you shall
call His name Jesus, for He will
save His people from their sins.”
But the name Jesus is a modern
English adaptation of the Greek
name, Iesous, which is itself a corruption of the original Hebrew
name Yahshua. The name Jesus or
Iesous has no meaning of its own,
but the Hebrew name Yahshua
literally means Yahweh’s Salvation,1 which makes sense out of
the angel’s message in Matthew
1:21, “…you shall call His name
Yahshua [Yahweh’s Salvation], for
He shall save His people from
their sins.”
If you look in an old King
James Bible, you will find the
name Jesus in these two passages:
Which also our fathers that came
after brought in with Jesus into the
possession of the Gentiles, whom
God drave out before the face of our
fathers, unto the days of David…
(Acts 7:45, KJV)
For if Jesus had given them rest,
then would he not afterward have
spoken of another day. (Hebrews
4:8, KJV)
However, if you look in any
modern translation of the Bible,
including the New King James
Version, you will find that in place
of the name Jesus, the translators
use the name Joshua, for in the
context it is clear that it is speaking there of Moses’ successor and
not the Son of God. But in the
underlying Greek manuscript, the
name in both of these verses is
— Iesous.
You see, Joshua is the common
English transliteration2 of the
Hebrew name Yahshua. Joshua of
the Old Testament had the same
name as the One called Jesus in
the New Testament, for Joshua
was the prophetic forerunner of
the Son of God, bringing Israel
—14—
All Names
into the Promised Land and leading them to victory over their
enemies. But since the translators
obviously know this fact, why do
they only translate Iesous as Joshua
in these two verses, and as Jesus
everywhere else?
The NIV New Testament even
has a footnote supporting this fact
under Matthew 1:21: “Jesus is the
Greek form of Joshua.”
The fact is, the name of God’s
Son could not even be pronounced as “Jesus” in English until late in the 16th century, simply
because there was no “J” sound
or letter in English until then.3
The modern letter “J” developed
from the letter “I” which began
to be written with a “tail” when
it appeared as the first letter in a
capitalized word. So in old English
the name now written as Jesus was
actually written and pronounced
much like the original Greek Iesous. Eventually the hard “J” sound
crept into the English language
to accompany the different way of
writing the initial “I” in the name.
You may also find it interesting
that in Acts 26:14-15, it says that
the apostle Paul heard the name
of the Son of God pronounced
“in the Hebrew tongue” by the
Son of God Himself, so he certainly didn’t hear the Greek name
Iesous or the English name Jesus,
but rather the Hebrew name, the
name above all names, Yahshua.4
A page from the 1611 Authorized Version (King James
Bible). Note the lack of a J in the Savior’s name.

Yah is the personal name of God, and shua is from a Hebrew root word that means “to save.” God
identified Himself to Moses as YAH (meaning “I AM”) in Exodus 3:14, as in Psalm 68:4, KJV (“by his
name Jah”), and as most familiar in the word Hallelujah (“Praise Yah”). And in John 5:43 and 17:11,
Yahshua says that He came in His Father’s name, “the name which You have given Me” (NASB),
so it is not surprising that the Father’s name would be incorporated into the Son’s name, Yahshua.

T
here is a people who woke up
this morning with one thing on
their minds – to love their Creator
with all their heart, mind, and strength,
and to love one another just as He
loved them.
Being just ordinary human beings,
we are far from perfect in our love, yet,
in hope, we persevere. Our goal? That
the kingdom of God would come on
earth as it is in heaven, so that love and
justice can rule on the earth.
Sound impossible? It would be,
were it not that Yahshua* the Messiah,
the Son of God, came to earth to
redeem mankind, to set us free from
the curse of sin, and to enable us to
love. Because we have come to see His
worth and our own desperate need, we
have surrendered everything in order
to follow Him.
He has won our hearts and
brought us together as a people to
demonstrate His love and care in the
midst of a collapsing social order. Our
hearts and our homes are open night
and day to any who are interested in
our life or weary of their sin and want
to know the purpose for which they
were created. 
