benefit of the Institute’s facilities and expertise. ni-msme’s activities are changing from time
to time to meet the needs of enterprises in the context of globalisation.
Located in a sprawling and enthralling campus amidst a rich natural setting, ni-msme is well
equipped with both physical and academic infrastructure. In keeping with the changing times
and technological changes, the Institute has updated its style of functioning by focusing on
the use of IT in every aspect of its activities, but at the same time retaining the wisdom and
advantages of deeply ingrained traditional practices.
The Institute stores and supplies information that helps make a successful entrepreneur who
is well versed in the intricacies of business and can participate in business activities
intelligently and diligently through its SENDOC.

RATIONALE
The main objectives of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India
is to develop a strong and vibrant food processing industry, to increase the employment
opportunities in rural areas and to enable potential as well as existing food processing
entrepreneurs to reap the benefits of technological advances to increase the

productivity and processing capability. While the 11 Plan marked a significant step
th
forward for the sector, the 12 Plan focuses on decentralization, inclusive growth and
enterprise promotion and skill development. In order to have a high outreach and to
provide more flexibility the MoFPI started a new centrally sponsored scheme titled
National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP).
The schemes covered under NMFP (Government) to be implemented by the State
Governments are the Scheme for Technology Upgradation / Setting up / Modernization
/ Expansion of Food Processing Industries, Scheme for Supporting Cold Chain
Facilities for Non-Horticultural Products and Reefer Vehicles, Scheme for Human
Resource Development (HRD) and Scheme for Promotional Activities. The success in
implementation and outreach of these schemes mostly depends on effective
implementation of HRD Scheme in general and implementation of Entrepreneurship
Development Programmes (EDPs) in particular. The implementers of EDPs in Food
Processing need to train and motivate farmers and prospective entrepreneurs/
unemployed youth in intensive manner. It is in this context the ToT on Entrepreneurship
Development in Food Processing is being offered by ni-msme based on its decades of
experience in Training the Trainers on Entrepreneurship Development. The main
purpose of this programme is to orient the participants on all aspects of successful
implementation of EDPs in Food Processing.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The methodology of the programme includes presentations by expert faculty on all the
themes of the programme, group discussions on training process and EDP contents.
The programme also involves a visit to a food processing enterprise. Panel discussion
with representatives from Banks and Credit Institutions and other agencies.
CONTENTS

 Entrepreneurship development process and EMT 
 Overview on status of food processing, enterprise opportunities and advances in
food processing technologies 
 NMFP and the schemes under it and support system for potential entrepreneurs 

 Project appraisal, financing and soft skills to deal with various agencies 

 Regulatory system for food processing enterprises and food safety. 

 Counseling and mentoring 

 Systematic approach to conducting EDPs in Food Processing and training methods
for effective EDPs 
 Experiences of successful entrepreneur and Field Visit. 
FOR WHOM
The programme would be very useful for officials of the state Mission Directorates
(NMFP), Directorate of Industries, Directorates of Agriculture and Horticulture, and
Krishi Vigyan Kendras. It will be directly relevant for faculty members of empanelled
training institutes/agencies with the Mission Directorates and other agencies/NGOs
involved in enterprise development in Food Processing sector.
VENUE AND DURATION
The programme would be organized at ni-msme campus, Hyderabad, India. The
duration of the programme is one week 20-24 July 2015.
PROGRAMME FEE
15,000 (Residential) per participant which includes course fee, training kit, exposure
visit, lodging & boarding and Rs.13000/ (Non-residential)
After attending the training programme the participants will be able to
 Provide counseling and information service to participants on all the schemes under
NMFP and familiarize to the participants on the step by step approach to start an
 enterprise in food processing. 
 Enhance the skills in training the prospective entrepreneurs to deal with various
support and regulatory agencies, banks and financial institutions. 
 Design and conduct effective EDPs on Food Processing as per the guidelines of the
MoFPI to achieve significant success rate following the principles of Systematic
 Approach to Training 
 Render post programme follow-up and support services to participants to overcome
problems relating to credit, sources of supply of raw materials, machinery and
equipment and in implementation of their projects. 
