The deadline for handing in the first essay for all the above papers is at 13:00 on 1 May 2017. 2. The deadline for handing in the second essay is at 13:00 on 15 May 2017. How to lay out your essay 1. Please download a cover page from http://www.divinity.cam.ac.uk/undergraduate/admin/document-library . You should enter on the form the following information: • The course you are enrolled in (Tripos/Diploma) • The year of examination • The title of the paper (i.e. NOT the title of the essay) • Your Exam Candidate Number (NOT your name). Please note that you must not put your name anywhere on the essay, in order to preserve your anonymity in relation to the Examiners. • Word count: All word limits are inclusive of notes and footnotes used to convey information, comment, or analysis, but exclusive of bibliography and footnotes which act simply as references. 2. Please remember to put your candidate number on every page. 3. Essays must be written in English and word-processed or typed, with double-spacing and wide margins. 4. Each page should be numbered. 5. See advice on referencing on how to set out your bibliography. 6. Refer to note on plagiarism for a definition of this term in relation to your work. You will have to sign and attach to each essay a statement confirming that it is all your own work (please use the coversheet). Candidates will sign against their candidate number as confirmation of their submission. 7. You must hand in your essay in duplicate (one copy will go to each of the two Examiners for the relevant Paper), plus an electronic version via Turnitin. Information about how to do this will be emailed by the computer officer. N.B. - Extensions to deadlines The deadlines for assessed essays are firmly enforced and students should plan carefully to have their work ready by the set dates. Final supervisions should be arranged with plenty of time to spare and allowing at least a day's leeway in case of unexpected problems such as computer failure. Essays must be handed in at the Faculty Office during opening hours. Candidates will be expected to sign against their candidate numbers as confirmation of the submission of their work. The Faculty Board has agreed to adopt the following penalty in relation to essays which are handed in late without good cause: a deduction of 5 marks per day (to include weekends) from the total number of marks which would otherwise have been awarded for the essay in question. The only exceptions to this rule which will be candidates who have obtained an appropriate medical certificate or those who’s Director of Studies has applied for exemption (with good cause) in advance.
