Year 1 Visit to @bristol
Year 1 enjoyed a visit to @bristol this week. We had an exciting workshop where we chose
the best materials to build a house with, they tested the roof materials and the best way to
build the walls so they were strong and weather proof. We then spent the rest of the day
exploring it was lots of fun.
Artist Visiting - On Wednesday, Ferrari and Tornado were
lucky enough to have artist Vanessa McBride come and visit us.
This was part of Hugo’s manifesto, promising to spend more on
arts resources within the school. Vanessa showed us how to
create carvings in polystyrene and we used this to draw round
our hands and create carvings of them. We then learned how
to add ink and use our polystyrene to create lots of prints of
our hands!
Choir sing their hearts out at Colston Hall!
The children from the KS2 choir took part in a concert at Colston Hall
last night (Thurs 19th June) and did a smashing job! A special
mention for Brandon Thomas who stole the show with his moves
and huge smile! We sang loads of songs from ‘The 3 Rs’ to ‘Zip-a-dedooda’ and provided plenty of Fair Furlong enthusiasm! WELL DONE
EVERYONE! Thank you to Mrs Milne and Mrs Mansour for helping
Mr Morgan at rehearsals and on the night.
Summer Arts and Crafts
Boeing class started to make amazing human
cardboard models by using our drawing, cutting
and tying skills.
“It was great fun!”
“I’m looking forward to making hair and clothes
for it!”
“It was great learning to tie knots properly!” Also
we enjoyed “Seeing our model take shape!”
At the end of term, we are going to finish them
off by putting on the body and making clothes to go on them. We can’t wait!
HARTCLIFFE NURSING HOME OPEN DAY – We
were very proud of 6 Year 6 children who represented
our school at an Open Morning at Hartcliffe Nursing
Home. The children visited with Mrs May who said she
was very proud of them during the visit.
