Introduction
This year you will be using the text book Aventura Nueva which will introduce you to
Spanish and give you an excellent foundation to study Spanish GCSE next year.
The units you will cover will allow you to talk about Yourself , School life, Home life, Your
area, Mealtimes , Free time and Leisure activities.
You will study Spanish using the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
At the end of Year 9 you are expected to have reached National Curriculum Levels 3-4.
The Units you will be studying are:

Unidad B: Tú y los demás
Unidad C: Tú, todos los días
Unidad D: Tú y el tiempo libre
Unidad E: Tú y tu mundo
This term you will study Unidad A: Tú y tu instituto and start Unidad B: Tú y los demás.

Your first task is to find some information about Spanish-speaking
countries.
You have been given a blank map of the Spanish-speaking world
marked with the first letters of the Spanish speaking countries and 3
seas/oceans.

Name the places on the map in English.
Colour all the Spanish-speaking countries in red.
Label the USA and Brazil and shade in green.
Shade the coastline blue.
Underneath your map you might like to write a key to the colourcoding and say why the USA and Brazil are in green.

Revise numbers 0-30 (TESTS 2 & 3 : Unidad A - Lección 2)
Write 4 sentences introducing yourself and giving your name, your age,
your birthday and your telephone number.
You might like to add 4 sentences giving information about a SpanishTask speaking celebrity, including their name, age, birthday and invent a tele5 phone number! Refer to TEST 7: Unidad A - Lección 3 for the months .
Produce this information either as a profile using headings or longer
sentences. Your work should be creative and well presented.
You might like to produce an interview, a poster, or a booklet.

You must write at least 12 sentences in Spanish and use the verbs tengo,
hay and estudio.
You might like to include plurals, linking words (pero, y) and negatives.
Your work should be as memorable as possible.
Ideas: A poster, a booklet or a PowerPoint presentation.
You must remember to check the marking criteria. Your classmates will be checking to make
sure that you have completed your work successfully.
