H24 Temperature Transmitter Overview BAPI Sensor Specifications Rev. 10/16/12 Temperature Transmitter Description BAPI temperature transmitters incorporate a sensor - either a 10KΩ thermistor or a platinum 100Ω or 1kΩ RTD - and a transducer. These devices provide an accurate two-wire, 4 to 20mA output over a specified range. They are specifically designed for temperature sensing and transmission over long distances without degradation of the 4 to 20mA signal. The thermistor transmitter also comes in a 0 to 5 VDC or 0 to 10 VDC output. The thermistor transmitter (BA/T10K) is microprocessor based and does not allow or require field calibration. The thermistor transmitter is first programmed for the specified range and tested using an electronic interface. After connecting a thermistor to the transducer, the output is verified at one temperature. Specifications The RTD transmitters (BA/T100 & BA/T1K) are first calibrated T10K Transmitter with simulated RTD resistances for the specified range. Then an Sensor: 10KΩ Thermistor RTD is connected to the transmitter and the output is verified at Output: 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 V, or 0 to 10 V one temperature. RTD transmitters have non-interacting zero and Supply Voltage: span potentiometers that are field adjustable. 10 to 35 VDC (0-5 VDC or 4-20 mA Outputs) BAPI has verified over 200 temperature ranges for the BA/T100 15 to 35 VDC (0-10 VDC Output) and BA/T1K transmitters. If we don’t currently offer the exact 12 to 24 VAC (0-5 VDC Outputs) range you’re looking for, call your BAPI representative to see if we 15 to 24 VAC (0-10 VDC Output) can create a special range. Maximum Loop Resistance: Additionally, BAPI can provide matched RTD-based units, BA/ 700Ω at 24 VDC (4 to 20 mA Output) T100M and BA/T1KM. Matched (sensor-transmitter pair) units Impedance: >10K ohms (Voltage Output) utilize the tight tolerance of Class A RTDs to improve overall acCalibration Range: -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) curacy. The matched unit is tested in an environmental chamber Accuracy: ±1.015°C (0 to 65°C) against an NIST traceable reference thermometer. Each matched Linearity: ±0.065°C (0 to 65°C) pair is provided with a “Certificate of Calibration” which lists the Temperature Resolution: Span/1024 tested and calculated offset values, and identifies the equipment, Operating Temperature: products and people involved in the calibration process. The Transmitter: 0 to 70°C overall accuracy of the matched pair now becomes a function of Sensor: -65 to 105°C (standard) the transmitter linearity, RTD linearity and reference thermometer -40 to 155°C (available) uncertainty. T100 and T1K Transmitters Matched errors are ±((Span * Linearity Error) + (Reference TherSensor: 100Ω or 1000Ω Platinum RTD mometer uncertainty) Supply Voltage: 7 to 40 VDC Where linearity error = Square Root((Transmitter Linearity)2 + Output: 4 to 20 mA (RTD Linearity)2) = Square Root((0.125%)2 + (0.2%)2) = 0.234% Max. Loop Resistance: 850Ω at 24VDC Examples: Span: Min 16.6°C (30°F), Max 555°C (1000°F) BA/T1K(-30 to 130F) Zero: Min -100°C (-148°F), Max 482°C (900°F) Span = 130 - (-30) = 160 Field Adjustments: (Unit is factory calibrated, Matched error = ±((160*0.234%) + (0.05°F)= ±0.42°F field adjustment will void calibration warranty) BA/T1K(45 to 95F) Zero: +/- 10% • Span: +/- 10% Span = 95 - 45 = 50 Accuracy: ±0.065% of Span (8 & 16mA outputs) Matched error = ±((50*0.234%) + (0.05°F)= ±0.17°F Linearity: ±0.125% of Span Operational Humidity: These accuracies are for the entire range of the sensor, although 0 to 95%, non-condensing the accuracies in the midband of the sensor will be tighter than 0 to 100%, condensing for short intervals those near the endpoints of the specified range. Other matching Output Current limits: and/or certification options may be available, please contact your Less than 1mA and 22.35 ± 0.15 mA BAPI representative for details. Power Output Shift: BAPI temperature transmitters come in a ruggedized package for ±0.009% of Span 7 to 40VDC all non-room configurations where moisture or condensation may Connections: Four 22-gauge etched Teflon be a problem. The potting material used to ruggedize the transmitleads or terminal blocks ters has high thermal conductivity to eliminate circuit overheating Operating Temperature: and low thermal expansion to minimize the stress on the circuit Transmitter: -20 to 70°C components. Due to the extremely low moisture absorption propSensor: -65 to 105°C (standard) erties of the potting material, a ruggedized transmitter will remain -200 to 600°C (available) operational even if temporarily immersed in water.
