FEATURED PARKS
AND GARDENS
Robelle Domain features more than 11 kilometres of
boardwalks, walking and cycle tracks, playgrounds,
zero depth water play and one of the largest free public
swimming lagoons in Australia – Orion Lagoon.
Kholo Gardens offers almost 40 hectares of stunning
grounds, a picturesque church, charming Queenslander style
function centre and walking tracks that lead down to the
banks of the Brisbane River.
Queens Park boasts an impressive array of playground
facilities that are inspired by Ipswich’s coal mining history.
Two additional free attractions include the Japanese themed
Nerima Gardens and the Ipswich Nature Centre.

WATERSIDE AND
WATER PLAY PARKS
Most waterside parks within Ipswich feature boat ramp

Colleges Crossing Recreation Reserve, Shapcott Park,

Zero depth water play areas are located at Bob Gamble Park,
close to Ipswich Central, and Robelle Domain on the eastern
fringes of the city. Orion Lagoon also located at Robelle
Domain offers an amazing free swimming lagoon.

CARING FOR OUR
PARKS AND RESERVES
Facilities such as playground equipment, BBQs, shelters and
picnic areas are free for public use on a shared basis and

To preserve this environment for all park visitors and future
generations, we need to work together.

are protected
• Dogs, other than trained medical companions, are not
permitted in Conservation Estates or Reserves, Orion
Lagoon, Ipswich Nature Centre and Nerima Gardens
• Driving of vehicles on grass is prohibited

These parks and reserves remain sacred
to the Traditional Owners of Ipswich,
the Yagara People, consisting of the
Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul Clans.
Sacred sites are very important to the
Traditional Owners, as they provide
a link between Country and personal
identity and allow the passing on of cultural knowledge.
Some of the sacred sites within Ipswich include quarry
sites, traditional food resources, story places, pre-contact
and historical camp sites, fighting grounds, ceremonial
sites, bora rings and women’s business sites.
