March 14- April 21 MARCH OF DIMES collection of donations- For each dollar that is
donated, your child gets a ticket to display outside the classroom door. If your child has
donated $5 by April 21 he/she may have a NO UNIFORM DAY on April 21.
April 7 – Progress Reports
April 14 – A copy of a driver’s license is due from all parents/guardians attending
the Memphis field trip
April 15 – Wax Museum- Parents are invited 9:45-10:00
April 15 – Assembly with author William George. An autograph hardback copy of his book,
Ollie’s Odyssey, will be on sale for $20.00.

* Every student who purchases $5.00 worth of tickets, for MARCH OF DIMES, will be
able to have a no uniform day on Thursday, April 21st. Check handout for more
information.
*Signed papers come home every Monday. Please look over, discuss with your child, and sign
to return on Tuesdays. Don’t forget to remove all notes and our newsletter!
*Your child has been asked to read 90 minutes a week. You are asked to sign their
reading log to verify that they have read. If your child has read their 90 minutes
each week by the end of the 9 weeks, they will receive a PIRATE PRIDE Stick.

Igneous rock: forms from melted rock-either from magma below Earth’s crust or from lava above it
Minerals: is a natural, non-living substance that makes up rock
Texture: is the property that describes the appearance of a rock
Sediment: is tiny bits of weathered rock or once living animal or plants
Sedimentary rock: is a type of rock that forms from layers of sediment.
Metamorphic rock: is a rock that has been changed by heat and pressure, or squeezing
