1. What types of recreation activities do members of your household regularly
participate in, and where does this participation occur? (activities don't have to
be in Manvel)
Sports for kids, Parks, Splash pads, skating, park playgrounds - we dont do any activities in
Manvel, the only thing we do in Manvel is buy gas, and spend money at the dollar general.
Occasionally we will play at EC Mason playground on the weekends. Oh and we participate in
the Manvel Youth Football league.

We used to participate in soccer which was only available at Croix Park - which was not
adequate for the number of teams playing. We ended up in Resoft and other parks just to get
practices in. Baseball - have to go to Pearland or Alvin for any serious baseball practice (why
high school lags way behind the other schools). Walking - can't walk unless you are in a
developed neighborhood due to loose animals, no sidewalks or lack of parks that have trails.

pools); enjoy bike riding and jogging but do not have any trails close to our home (do not live in
neighborhood and no sidewalks in our part of Manvel, aka Old Manvel)

5. List specific activities that members of your household would like to see
provided by the City of Manvel.
Splash pad, park with nice playgrounds, but then again the issue will be that the city of manvel
won't maintain it, for example have you ever visited Criox Park? it is never mowed, and
additionally this is why we quit playing soccer for Manvel because the field conditions were silly
and the coaches had to mow the fields. It would be nice to bring entertainment business into
Manvel. We have a PDZ zone requirement for new business development, yet the city doesnt
enforce simple mowing in the major corridors of our city, other cities do a much better job of this.
- the Eddie's ballroom site will be vacant and grown up for years before the city does anything
with it, and even if they do it wont be used because the city growth is not going in that direction,
and who is going to drive over to see a pasture with concrete, they should have used it for a
recreation center - wedding venue location like Brazos Springs - we could use it for many things
like Lions club meetings, etc...then again the surrounding cities have all of this so Manvel can
continue to be small and not worry about spending money - citizens should focus growth with
youth sports facililties - a place where they can play sports of all kinds this would keep our kids
in our city and benefit our economics much quicker than investing in other recreational
complexes. build a ball park - oh wait the Lions club is doing this in Iowa Colony because
Manvel couldn't get ti done, my kids will be grown before this happens. Build a football complex like the Dad's club - oh wait the city will just have us use the school facilities - or have our
citizens go to Pearland. Manvel High School Football is great but the city does not have youth
facility? Softball, Basketball, Volleyball? - all this brings revenue in when games an tournaments
are booked.
