Literacy
Throughout the term we will develop our phonic and
grammar skills, which help us with our reading and
our writing. In phonics we will be looking at different
ways to make the same sound.
Reading at home will support children with their
phonic skills and reinforce their learning.

Science: Uses of everyday materials
We will be identifying and comparing the suitability of a variety of everyday
materials.
We will be investigating how forces can be used to change materials.
Numeracy
This will be taught through contexts and relating to
everyday life as much as possible. Activities are
planned to develop a positive attitude and thinking
skills so that children can apply their knowledge and
skills to solving problems in everyday life situations.
Number and place value
We will explore the uses of different materials for certain weather and
habitats.
 count to and across 100, forwards and backwards,
beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number
 count, read and write numbers to 100 in numerals;
count in multiples of twos and tens

Who were the Tudor and Stuart monarchs?
How were Tudors and Stuarts different to us?

Multiplication and division
 solve one-step problems involving multiplication
This term we will be learning about the parables of
Christianity through stories.
Cooking
Cooking will be used as a context for teaching:
- Maths, Measures, and Multiplication.
- Literacy, instructions for Tudor recipes.

and division, by calculating the answer using
concrete objects, pictorial representations and
arrays with the support of the teacher.
PE
Gymnastics: Developing skills in moving with strong body control. Children
will be learning to use apparatus, and work towards performing different
shapes using their bodies. We will work as part of a team, evaluating our
performances to improve them.
Measurement
 recognise and know the value of different
denominations of coins and notes.
Swimming: Developing water confidence and how we move in the water,
keeping afloat. Developing kicking and arm actions building towards the
different strokes.

aspects of art and DT to explore
Tudors and Stuarts using a variety
of materials creatively to design
and make products. We will be
looking at and creating selfportraits (Pastels), sculptures,
Tudor houses, Tudor foods.
