Forty Year 7 students embarked on a fantasy journey to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studios in
Leavesden.
The studio is where all eight Harry Potter films were
made. During this trip, students witnessed the
extraordinary artistry, technology and talent of the
film-makers used to create the wondrous world of the
Harry Potter series. Some of the sets included: the
great hall, number four Privet Drive, and even the
triple-decker purple Knight Bus! Upon seeing the
authentic sets from the Harry Potter film series, the
students were mesmerised and really enjoyed
themselves.
Students also enjoyed a glass of Butterbeer, nonalcoholic beverage mentioned in the Harry Potter books and films. They
were given a passport, in which they had to collect stamps and
complete activities. Students also took part in a wand controlling
activity!
Students saw
platform 9 and
three quarters
along with the
Hogwarts
Express train.
At the end of the tour, students had an
opportunity to buy souvenirs from the
Studio Shop, which had original props from
the Harry Potter films. Below are some of
the quotes from the students:
The Art Department included all
of the sets and props seen in the
Harry Potter films, including the
breath-taking 1:24 scale model of
Hogwarts castle which was used
for exterior shots of the magical
school.
“It
was
wickedly
awesome.
Spell
bounding…unbelievable and intelligent” R.
Masood.
“I enjoyed the trip because it was an
awesome experience” M. Bromley.
“I enjoyed the trip because learning how to
use a wand was amazing. Thanks to all the
teachers” L. Neal.
“My best part was the cinema because it
was great to see how they made things” M.
Lawrence.
“I liked everything about the trip, especially
the Hogwarts castle!” C. Thomson.
Overall, all of the students really enjoyed themselves and
they had the opportunity to explore and appreciate the real
artwork and designing behind the films.
