Gulotta (3rd left) attended the dedication of the new administration building for the Bay Park Fire District. The building, which is located on East Court Street, will house the administration offices of the District, which is served by the East Rockaway Fire Department. Lynbrook Elks Junior Bowling Charles Barillari This week saw a 'Clash of Titans' between the Great Ones and The Kick Axe, with the Great Ones coming out ahead 8 to 3. Steven Meyers carried the Great Ones to victory with 26 pins over average. Although the Kick Axe retained their first place position in the standings, the Great Ones moved into second place and are only 4'/2 points behind the leaders. In other games around the league: PAINS IN THE ASTEROIDS 8, WEIRD & WACKY BOWLERS 3: The Weird & W a c k y Bowlers dropped from second place in losing the first two games to the Pains, both losses by wide margins. Sal Brescia (63 poa) and Gerry McCrystal (20 poa) were hot for the Pains, while Scott Smillie continued his hot bowling with 28 pins over average. The Pains are now tied for fourth place with the White Lightning. WOBBLES 6, WHITE LIGHTING 5: The Lightning again were upset by a girls team as they were beaten 6 to 5, thanks to the incredible bowling of Gina Guardino (49 pins over average). The White Lightning are now tied for fourth place with the Pains in the Asteroids, while the Wob- bles reside in ninth place ahead of the Angels. D E S T R O Y E R S 11, ANGELS 0: The Destroyers finally found a team they could beat, and took advantage of the discovery. Matthew Perrin literally buried the Angels, bowling a fabulous 158 pins over average, including a 180 game, and was aided by John Marone (+34 poa) and Tom lannone (+22 poa) in the interment. Melissa Fighera was the only spark for the Angles, bowling 18 pins over average. The Destroyers, with the win, have pulled themselves out of the basement, while the Angels, with the loss, have dropped into the basement spot. SLY ONES 8, WEEBLES 3: The Sly Ones dealt the Weebles a damaging loss, defeating them in the first two games, and losing the third game by only 3 pins. The Sly Ones used team work to put away the Weebles, and with the win moved up to seventh place in the standings'. Tracey Evensen led the Sly Ones onslaught with 80 pins over average, and was helped out by Kris Schwensberger (+27 poa) and Alison Muchnick (+23 poa). The Weebles fell from sixth to eighth place with the loss. Tree Lighting Nassau County families are invited to join County Executive Francis T. Purcell and Santa Claus in commemorating a joyous time of year at the official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to be held at the Salisb u r y R e s t a u r a t in Eisenhower Park on Monday, December 10, starting at 3:30 p.m. Nassau Recreation and Parks Commissioner Abram C. Williams said County Executive Purcell will officially turn on the Christmas tree lights and Santa Claus will hand out candy canes to the kiddies.
