Dear Pinckney Families,
With the close of each school year, I know that many parents
begin thinking about their child’s placement for the following year. I
invite you to write to me regarding any special needs or placement
concerns you have for your child. I do try to honor teacher requests if
you want the same teacher that one of your other children has already
had, but this must be requested in writing; it is not automatic.
Otherwise, please do not ask for specific teachers. I’d prefer that your
letters provide information that will guide me in the selection of the
appropriate teacher for your child. Also, if you request to have your
child with a friend and to have a specific teacher (from a siblings past
year), you must specify which is more important, the friend request or
the teacher request. I most likely won’t be able to do both. Please be
sure to include your child’s name and grade for next year.
Because I will be placing approximately 1100 students next year,
I must have your information in writing, not by phone message. I do
read every single letter before placing students, and I give thoughtful
consideration to each child’s needs.
If you choose to write a letter, please submit your letter directly
to my attention. You may either mail it or send it with your child. For
confidentiality purposes, please send all letters in a sealed envelope.
The deadline for submitting letters is June 30th.
Sincerely –
Leanne Sheppard, Principal

Clap-out: This fun tradition began years ago! On graduation morning at 7:35, all
of the fifth graders will parade down the hall one last time as the
“underclassmen” applaud. This is over very quickly and is mainly a “student
thing”, but you’re welcome to join us with your cameras.
Attire: Most students dress as if they were “going to church”. Girls often wear
sundresses, and boys might wear slacks or dress shorts with a collared shirt.
Notes: There are no tickets required. We expect to have seating for all of you! If
your child is leaving with you following graduation, please check them out with
his or her homeroom teacher.
Additional information:
Parents should enter the gym in the front atrium and should exit through the SE
doors following the students. Parents will be invited into the gym when the
previous ceremony is over. Because the turnaround is so quick, we will have
about ten minutes to seat each group of guests. Please find your seats quickly
as we expect to begin the ceremonies promptly.
Stations will be set up for photo opportunities.
