Creative Team
aka The Elite And Quite
Secret Antipodean Kaffee
Club
We are looking for talented Notre
Dame and UWA medical students
of diverse interests to join our
Creative Team for the 11th AMSA
Global Health Conference, to be
held in September 2015 in Perth.
For the next 18 months our
Creative Directors - that’s Joe
Murphy, Ben Rossiter and Ellen
McGuckin - will be working with
our (as-yet-unborn) Creative
Team and the GHC Committee
to bring hundreds of medical
students from all around Australia
to Perth for an amazing five days
of martial arts-oriented fun. (Ed.
Not really.)
(Psst - don’t know
much about GHC?
https://www.amsa.org.
au/events/global-healthconference/)
This will be the first time that
many of our delegates have
been to or even considered
going to Western Australia, and
the Creative Team will play an
important part in both attracting
delegates to the conference and
ensuring that they leave thinking
that WA is at least 3.5 times
cooler than Melbourne.
We’re all very friendly and open
to you sharing with us whatever
it is that you like to create,
whether that be drawings, music,
animations, dance moves, videos,
cartoons, boardgames, haikus,
limericks, sculpture (especially
sculpture), (actually especially
boardgames) or even photos.
In essence, this is the chance to
un-closet your hobbies, interests,
passions or former occupational
skills and put them to work
enlivening GHC 2015 Perth.
Our conference will be held in
September 2015. Applicants
should ideally be able to commit
to being involved from now up
until the conference, though
we are also happy to consider
applications from final year
students/those embarking on
gap years/RCS. We envision our
committee leadership approach
as being a bit more hassle than
laissez-faire and a bit less hassle
than Leninist communism. It’s a
pretty sweet gig so come on down
(and apply)!
Applications close 25th June

Are you available in Perth for the period 2014-15?
Please tell us why you would like to be involved in
GHC, and what skills and ideas you can bring to
the table (max 300 words)
Photographer
Are you an amateur photographer with
a lens flare for creative shooting? Or a
pro who wants to expand your portfolio
and experience? Always have one eye
reserved for catching that perfect
photo opportunity, be it a Cott sunset,
a friend’s smile, or a super fine and
definitely #nofilter plating of smashed
avocado or macerated strawberries?
We’re looking for some photographic
talent to provide us with images of
Perth and surrounds for GHC 2015
promotional materials, and to provide
photography services during the
conference itself. You will be working
collaboratively with our entire creative
team and executive committee to
help them beautify their GHC-related
efforts. There is also considerable scope
for independent direction and creativity
in the ways that this role could be
used to help interest inter-state
students in visiting Western Australia.
Photographers should be prepared to
release the rights to their images to
GHC 2015.
Please answer the following question
Provide some ideas for how your photography
services could help enhance GHC 2015.
Finally please attach a few samples of your work
along with this pdf.
Videographer
GHC will be creating several highquality promotional and educational
videos before and during the
conference. Have any original,
interesting and aesthetically pleasing
ideas? Written a script for year 9
english? Know about boom mikes? Seen
The Dark Knight? Then you are perfect
for the position of Videographer!
Please answer the following question
Give us an idea for how you might use a
promotional video to help attract delegates to GHC
2015 Perth.
Finally please attach an example or link to your
work.
(Electronic Media Officer)
Electronic media deity
Can you do the thing? With the
computers? Yes? Well that’s good enough
for us. In conjunction with the Creative
Directors, we need you to help build
and manage the GHC 2015 website
and integrate it with social media and
other IT services such as the iphone and
android app. Experience in Wordpress/
similar, website design and very basic
coding skills will make us hyperventilate
with excitement, but willingness to learn
will also be highly thought of. Our ideal
candidate would also be open to bringing
social media into the conference itself
through Live Twitter Feeds and teaming
up with our Social Media Deity.
Please answer the following questions
What do you think makes for a great website? Is
it all about things that go swoosh, or do you have
other priorities?
How do you feel about event/related apps? What
do you think we could include in a GHC 2015 app
that would be engaging and useful for delegates?
If you have any relevant previous work for us to
view, please attach a link
(Social Media Officer)
Social media deity
Do you spend 90% of lecture time
checking facebook on your phone?
Are you trending on Twitter? On
the vanguard of some smoking new
online thing that everyone will soon
know about? Here’s the opportunity
to salvage those hours and turn your
addiction into something CV-worthy.
You will be the other head of our
electrics fanangle. The Lou Reed to the
Electronic Media Deity’s Bowie. Like
a digitalised Putin. But more keen on
shiraz. We need you. To get the word
out about GHC 2015 by cöordinating
our social media promotional activity
and getting all those East Coast loafers
and Perth-bound so-and-so’s to get
excited about, register for, attend and
love GHC 2015.
Please answer the following questions
Tell us about a campaign/promotions effort that
used social media in an innovative way, and why
you found it effective. (200 words max)
How do you think social media could best be
used to help make GHC 2015 a success?
(300 words max)
Are you that wonderful medical student who turns up to tutorials with a
tray of freshly baked muffins, just because? Are you interested in finding out
about where our food comes from, how
sustainable it is, and what we should
do about it? Do you know how to pronounce quinoa?
We are looking for a GHC Chef to work
with our Media Deities in creating videos, tutorials and recipes that explore
the concepts of sustainable shopping
and cooking, for distribution via the
GHC 2015 website, Facebook page and
official publication. You needn’t be an expert on sustainability, but you should be
prepared to investigate and share what
you learn about local supply, food security and other relevant topics.
Chef
Applicants must be prepared to
wear Chef’s hat.
Please answer the following questions
Here is a rather interesting article (just read the

writing, sourcing and editing written
material for the GHC website and

acrostic poems.
Please answer the following questions

Something that you are personally interested in or
curious about would be ideal! (300 words max)

along with this application
Visual artist/
Set designer
We’re looking for a medical student who
can join our Creative Directors in creating
drawings, paintings, cartoons or other
works that can be used to beautify the
GHC publication and website. Our visual
artist will also assist Academic and Social
Convenors in helping to design and build
sets and set pieces for use in keynote
addresses and breakout sessions, as well
as for the social nights. The design of
props and set pieces will aid in creating
and maintaining the themes and feel of
GHC. Crafternoons anticipated.
