Woking
London County Council evacuated children throughout the early years of
the war. The register shows where children, aged between 3 to 8 years
were billeted. Most returned within the year

Mrs Lindsay was the Chief evacuation officer for the rural area. The
badge was attached by safety pin.

skies over Guildford. The entry for August 1940 shows the start of the
Battle of Britain.
