Prairie Avenue Christian Center is doing something special for Christmas for
children being raised by a relative other than their parents. They are adopting
and filling Christmas stockings with the name, age, sex and interests of a child
being raised by a relative that will be attached to the Christmas stocking. The
child that is being raised by relatives can be from 0 through any age, as long as
they still live with and are dependent upon the adult relative. We do not put
an age limit because some of these children are going to college and others are
“special needs” children/adults.
All relatives raising these relative children need to give me the names, ages,
sex and interest of your kids by November 19, 2011. You can email me this
information at [email protected], telephone me at 208-769-7096 or bring
this information to the next Relatives As Parents meeting on November 10,
2011 at the Coeur d’Alene Library(702 Front Ave, CdA). You do not have to be
a member of the “Coeur d’Alene Relatives As Parents group”. If you live
anywhere in North Idaho, Region 1, we welcome you to participate in our
Christmas “Adopt-A-Sock Program”. The Christmas stockings will be filled and
distributed at our December R.A.P. meeting held on December 8, 2011 at the
Jewett House. For more information call 208-769-7096 or 208-667-0320.
Annual Relatives As Parents Christmas Party
Come join us for our annual Christmas party on December 8, 2011. All
relatives raising relative children and their kids (all ages) in North Idaho
are welcome. This party is being held at the Jewett House, 1501 E.
Lakeshore Drive, in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday from noon to 2:00 pm. The
Christmas “Adopt-A-Sock” filled stockings will be distributed to the
guardians during the party. If you can not attend this party you can make
arrangements with me (769-7096) to pick up your stocking(s) at a later
date. If you live a distance from the Coeur d’Alene area the R.A.P.
representative in your area will make arrangements for you to pick up the
stockings.

Christmas Parade, Light Show & Fireworks
Christmas season will be officially
kicked off this year the day after
Thanksgiving. Coeur d’Alene comes
a live November 25, 2011. The
annual Christmas parade starts at
5:00 p.m. at 8th and Sherman
Avenue, downtown, Coeur d’Alene.
Bundle up and grab the kids for this
free entertainment and a great
tradition to start the Christmas
season. Our town offers the largest
floating light show extravaganza in
America, featuring over one million
lights and over 250 holiday displays.
The Coeur d’Alene Resort has the
world’s tallest living Christmas tree,
standing 161 feet and decorated
with more than 30,000 lights, will be
unveiled during Thanksgiving
weekend’s premier of the Holiday
Light Show at the Coeur d’Alene
Resort. This tree is over 120 years
old and is twice
the height of the New York City’s
Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. A
fireworks display immediately follows the
Christmas parade. If you are chilled to the
bone after the parade and fireworks go
inside the resort and enjoy a hot cup of
chocolate and enjoy the Christmas
atmosphere and listen to the strolling
Christmas Carolers. The Coeur d’Alene
Resort also offers Holiday Cruises to the
North Pole. The cruise lasts about 40
minutes and the children absolutely love
this adventure. Adults are $14.75; Senior
Citizens are $13.75 and children 10 years
and under are free. These cruises are
nightly and go through December 31st.

Mountain View Family Medicine
Do you know a family with children who are struggling with no health
insurance or a high deductible? Dr. Bonine, in Sandpoint, believes that
every child deserves quality medical care. To be a child patient of Dr.
Bonine your insurance status doesn’t matter. Dr. Bonine offers well
child physicals, immunizations, developmental screenings and referral
services on Wednesday afternoons for $10.00. Once they have seen
your child for a well child appointment, they will care for your sick
child any day of the week for $10.00. This includes newborn care in
the hospital through the age of 18. No forms to fill out, no income
qualification, just good old fashioned care at a price families can
afford. Call today and ask for an “Every Child Appointment”.

The RAP/GAP
Mascot is the
turtle. The turtle,
like us and our
children, has a
hard shell to
protect it from
getting hurt, but
the inside is soft,
vulnerable and
loveable. We must
learn to stick our
heads out of our
shell and take a
chance.
