Graham Managing Director 617-265-6700 Direct Line [email protected] Ian Chase, photographer BOSTON CITY SINGERS CONTINUES THEIR RECORD 100% of Its High School Graduates Attend 4 Year Colleges July 12, 2011 (Dorchester, MA) Boston City Singers, a Dorchester-based music training and youth development program, announced today that 100% of its graduates have been admitted to 4 year colleges. Among this year’s graduates, singers have been accepted at Harvard University, Smith College, UMass Lowell, Vanderbilt, Boston University, Drexel, Union, Lake Forest, Brown and Centre Colleges. Emma Douglass of Dorchester, daughter of Maryellen Sullivan and Chris Douglass of Ashmont Grill fame, has been a member of Boston City Singers for 13 years and is one of this years graduates. Yasser Elhamouni of Quincy, will receive a 4-year college scholarship to Union College thanks to the Posse Foundation. Anna Butler of South Boston, a 5-year veteran with Boston City Singers is a Posse Foundation Finalist. Luke Glinski of Milton, a 4-year veteran of the inspiring young voices program has recently departed for his collegiate and military experience at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. Meghan Magee is will receive Janey Scholar support to attend Harvard. “Our mission at Boston City Singers is to inspire and train the artist, student and ambassador in all children, regardless of means,” said Jane Money, Founder, Artistic and Education Director. “We are extremely proud of each of these singers who we hope will continue their love of music as they venture on,” Money continued. Other graduates include Stephanie Brown (South Boston), Caytie Cambell-Orrock (Roslindale), Michael Gattozzi (Framingham), Meghan Magee (Brighton), Annika Nielsen (Dorchester), Gabriel Paradis (Hyde Park) and Lena Stein (Carlisle). As part of their Boston City Singers experience, graduates have performed throught the United States as well as in Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Under the direction of Jane Money, 38 members of the Concert Chorus will be enbarking on a Goodwill Tour to South Africa on July 21 for a 4-week performance and cultural immersion program. Some have been mentors to hundreds of our training chorus members over the years. Boston City Singers was founded in the Spring of 1995 to provide outstanding opportunities to at-risk youth in the communities in which they live.
