CASTLEBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOL YEAR END 2014-2015 I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Castlebridge parent community for their continuing collaboration and participation in support of student success. Thank you also to the Castlebridge staff. Their dedication to your children’s well-being, both academically and socially, is commendable! This year at Castlebridge we saw an increase in our use of technology around IPADs and Bring Your Own Device (B.Y.O.D.). As a staff, we look forward to continuing to deepen our instructional practises around 21st Century Teaching and Learning by providing engaging, motivating and meaningful interaction with technology. As we look ahead to the Fall, we will continue our focus on school-wide goals of numeracy with Engage Math, as well as 21st century teaching and learning. We will be in year 2 of French Immersion with two additional grade 4 classes. We continue to purchase quality French Immersion resources and providng relevant professional development to support teaching and learning. On behalf of the staff, we wish to extend to you our best wishes for a happy, healthy and FUN summer. We thank you for your continued support and assure you that we will be working to ensure a smooth opening September 8th , 2015. SCHOOL COUNCIL Special thanks to our outstanding School Council. This year School Council has supported technology with the purchase of an addtitional 20 IPADs, the DuffleBag theatre presentation of A Christmas Carol, Classroom Without Walls, Assignment Earth musical, tournament transportation, parent presentations, and not to mention class excursions/activities by subsidizing costs. The School Council has made a significant impact on the learning experience of each and every child here at Castlebridge and on behalf of students and staff, I would like to say THANK YOU. School is a product of the community in which it stands and the Castlebridge community is generous, supportive, helpful, inclusive and caring. September Class Organization and Class Lists: Our staffing is allocated in January based on projected numbers. A centrally appointed Staffing Officer works to determine the best possible school organization given the Ministry mandated Primary class size caps and the distribution of students across the grade level. On your child’s placement letter we have indicated their tentative class placement for September. We are waiting to see if, by Reorganization Day in mid September, further changes are necessary. Therefore classes are only tentatively set up at this point. Your child’s class placement may be affected with reorganization. Please do not make requests for class changes at this time. As was indicated in the Class Organization memo that parents received in April. We take great care in building classes and there is a process in place. We cannot make any changes to class placements prior to reorganization. Thank you for your understanding. First Day Procedures: Staff will be on the yard at 8:45 am on Tuesday, September 8th to meet their students and commence the class routines from the first bell at 8:55 am. Homeroom teachers will be holding a sign indicating their homeform (i.e 1CF, 2A). Your child’s homeform is indicated on the placement letter.
