The South Inch, Perth – a level, surfaced path of 1 mile (1.5 km), through the South Inch parkland, and around the newly refurbished pond. Disabled toilets are available in the South Inch car park, and in summer the Kings Place toilets are available until 4pm (24 hour access with a RADAR key). From the car park, head towards Edinburgh Road and cross at the traffic lights. The level path crosses the South Inch, with a barely perceptible slope over the flood defence bund. Turn right at the central junction. Turn left to head towards the pond. The path, with many seats, encircles the pond. You may see ducks and other birds, but please don’t feed them with bread as over feeding of ducks changes the nature of the water and encourages algae. There is a level timber walkway out over the water, which rejoins the path further along. Continue along beside the pond until you are nearly back where you started. You can either rejoin your outward route, or turn left to head to the (seasonal) café and toilets. When you reach King James Place you can head back to the car park along the pavement with the imposing houses overlooking the South Inch on your left. Or turn right across the South Inch to rejoin your outward route at the path junction in its centre.
