Stephen F. Austin State University Proposed SMI Expansion for Fall 2010 (pending SFA IRB approval) Identified Populations Incoming Freshmen Traditional Greek Letter Organizations Freshman Athletes Residence Hall Residents Method of Delivery All populations will receive the AUDIT Half of each population will receive an offer of immediate session with provider Half of each population will receive a list of qualified SMI providers to seek out on their own Reasoning for Method Studies show that SMI is effective but we have little information on best delivery in higher education Do students respond better to immediate access to a provider that they have not chosen OR Do students respond better after an opportunity to reflect on AUDIT results and have the opportunity to choose who they will see?
