Flier 11 - Woodbury C of E Primary School

Woodbury C of E Primary School
24th November 2016
Thursday Flier 11!
Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who came to the singing concert on Tuesday. It is always a pleasure to hear
the children perform – the enjoyment of singing together, the beautiful way they sing and how they
remember the lyrics and support each other is fantastic. Christmas is definitely in the air at school
with carols being practised, nativity costumes adjusted and Christmas cards being judged. The PTFA
are busy getting the Fayre ready and if you are able to offer any help they would love to hear from
you. On the subject of Christmas – is anyone able to donate a Christmas tree to school by Thursday
1st December so that it can be decorated by the children in readiness for the Fayre?
Welcome to Mrs Blakesley and Mrs Sommers
I am delighted to welcome Mrs Blakesley and Mrs Sommers to the school team. Both are qualified
teachers who will be working in school as Higher Level Teaching Assistants. They each will have very
varied roles involving leading support work with groups of children as well as teaching classes on
occasions. They will also be supporting other areas such as first aid, computing and school council.
Thank you for your support for Children In Need
Thank you for your contributions for Children in Need, altogether a fantastic £320 was raised.
Contributions to Mrs Blower’s Leaving gift and Memories Book
As you are aware, after 23 years working with the children at Woodbury, Mrs Blower will be retiring
at the end of term, following a period of illness. Mrs Blower’s care and support for the children of
Woodbury over the years has been immense. Those with children in Key Stage 2 will know of her
expertise in all matters computing and DT and she has been instrumental in the development of
many of these things in school. At the end of term the children in Key Stage 2 will be saying thank
you and goodbye to Mrs Blower in a special assembly, which you are welcome to attend (date to be
confirmed). We are also organising a collection for Mrs Blower to show our appreciation of all she
has done, as well as a book of memories and thanks. Should you like to contribute to either, please
send your contribution or messages to the office in an envelope.
