All the safety information is always intended to ensure your personal safety! • The maximum permissible working temperature and pressure are indicated on the housing label. Do not exceed these values under any circumstances. It is necessary to use process instrumentation to ensure the operating conditions are within the limits. • Be certain that the filtered medium is compatible with all of the housing materials of construction, including the gasket elastomers. • Ensure that the housing is not subject to any dynamic or static stresses that may cause fatigue fracturing such as vibration loads, earthquakes, unsupported fluid piping, etc. Always mount the housing vertically, using the housing legs to support the weight of the installation. • Always de-pressurize and drain the housing before changing elements or performing maintenance work. The housing should be installed with valves on both the inlet and outlet in order to isolate the unit while performing work. • Always check for leaks after work is performed on the housing or the filter elements are changed. Replace all damaged components. If any part of the housing body is dented, the entire unit must be replaced. INSTALLATION INSTALLATION TIPS • Always follow the direction of the flow labels (inlet and outlet). Take caution as to not install the filter housing backwards. • Use a PTFE tape to lubricate threads when installing pipes to the housing. This will allow the connection to be tightened at a torque sufficient to completely seal the joint. • Be sure the proper elements and housing gaskets have been selected for your application and installed in the housing. Call your Donaldson representative for assistance with filter element and gasket selection. • Apply compatible lubrication to the element o-ring if needed. PRODUCT NAME PRODUCT NAME P-FG INSTRUCTION & OPERATION MANUAL • When installing the elements, push the element down until fully seated in the cartridge plate opening. Once seated, twist clockwise until the tabs are fully locked in their retainers. • Position the hold down plate on the center rod. The elements should align with the holes in the hold down plate. Hand tighten the two wing nuts to secure the hold down plate. • Install and secure the housing cover on the housing body. Secure the clamp or swing bolts, depending on the housing. MAINTENANCE / INITIAL COMMISSIONING psi 1. Before starting any maintenance work, ensure that the pressure vessel has been depressurized and has cooled down and cannot be put back into operation during the maintenance work. 2. Close the inlet side valve. Open bottom drain plug to begin draining the filter housing. Remove top vent plug and allow filter housing to drain completely. 3. Once the filter has drained, loosen the clamp or swing bolts. Remove the cover. 4. Remove the wingnuts and hold down plate. 5. Remove used filter elements by twisting counter-clockwise, then pulling up. Install new or cleaned filter elements. The filter elements must be changed at regular intervals. Consult your Donaldson representative for proper change out intervals. 6. Damaged components must be replaced with new ones. If a marked degree of damage is found, the entire vessel must be replaced. Always replace housing gasket when changing the filter elements. 7. Position the hold down plate on the center rod. The elements should align with the holes in the hold down plate. Hand tighten the two wing nuts to secure the hold down plate. 8. Position housing cover back on the body flange. Tighten clamp or swing bolts to secure cover to the housing body. 9. Replace the two drain plugs. 10.Partially open the inlet valve. Allow the vent to remain partially open until liquid comes out of the vent hole. Be cautious as to not fill the housing too quickly. Replace vent plug. 11.Check for leaks once the maintenance work has been finished! If any leaks are found, repeat all steps in this section.
