The Canonization of
Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Message from the Principal!
Dear Families,
As we look forward to this three-day weekend with our children, let’s all take time to
heed the messages left behind by our soon-to-be St. Teresa of Calcutta. Your
children have spent time learning about our newest saint this week, reading and
writing about her, seeing the newly dedicated statue in front of Benedictine College’s
Nursing Center. Did you know that in 1981, Mother Teresa visited Atchison as a
guest of the Benedictine sisters? It’s remarkable that all of us grew up hearing about
this 1979 Nobel Peace Prize recipient. We have seen her on the evening news, have
been inspired by her simple ways, by her attention to the poorest of the poor. On
September 4, she is the newest saint in our Church. May we, too, wake up each
morning and pray that we may do good works for God.
Enjoy your family this weekend!
Blessings,
Diane Liebsch

PTC Meeting TUESDAY!!!
The 2016-2017 PTC officers invite all of you to their first meeting of the year, this Tuesday, 3:45, in the music room.
Childcare by middle school students will be available for those needing it. On the agenda: a peek at our new religion
books, Body Venture, Raven Run, and Grandparents Day. Come hear the Principal’s Report and get in on all the
action!
This year’s officers: Jen Tuftee – President, Ashley Hundley – Vice-President, Wendy Campbell – Secretary, and Laura
Bradfield – Treasurer. Meetings are held four times each year, with the first and last meeting being held after school
and the second and third meetings being held in the evening.
Student Council Representatives
Congrats to the following class representatives who joined the Student Council this week. These students were
elected by their classmates in their homerooms. Congrats to: Joseph Kerr, Emilee Falk, Carlee DeBolt, Kaden
Haupt, Norah Koechner, and James Buhman-Wiggs. They joined the officers elected last week in serving Fun
Food Thursday and organizing some fun singing and dancing! They have some great ideas and are ready to work
hard for their fellow SBCS students!
Way to go Shoparooers!!
PTC would like to thank everyone that helped by scanning their receipts for Shoparoo! The school will be getting a
check in the mail for $357.48, just for scanning receipts. Quick and easy way to earn money for the school!
Let’s see if we can get an even bigger amount next year! Keep up the great work. Remember, it’s never too late to get
started! Download the Shoparoo app and scan every receipt you get, simple as that!
Important Scrip Information
There won't be a Scrip order going out next week because of the Labor Day holiday. However, you can still order any
time on the ShopWithScrip.com website or MyScripWallet on your smartphone or mobile device and have your Scrip
available within minutes. You can also buy Scrip on-hand in the school office any time during school hours. Please
contact a Scrip committee member if you have any questions about ordering Scrip!

Go to www.stbenedictatchison.org/school. On the right side, click on “Raven Alerts.” Follow the prompts. Make sure
you choose SBCS Announcements, along with any other groups, you’d like to join. It is recommended that both parents
receive text messages in order to be promptly notified of emergencies, school closings, etc. You may unsubscribe any
time.
NOTE: St. Benedict Catholic School and Maur Hill-Mount Academy thank Exchange National Bank for providing the
shared Text Caster service for our schools. SBCS messages will always START with SBCS. If you don’t see SBCS, it’s a
Maur Hill-Mount Academy message. Although users sign up for the groups they choose, now and then a sender from one
of our schools may choose all groups, causing parents at both schools to get messages intended for only one group.
Thanks for your patience!
