Paul's ministry, personal afflictions, strength and
boldness, I often see him as a super hero. I often
think "How could he keep going?" Romans 16
gives away one of his secrets. He surrounded
himself with Christian friends who were helping
him and praying for him. Paul concludes this
magnificent letter to the Romans by rattling
off a laundry list of 28 names. Why does God
bother to take up precious space in His written
revelation for greetings? This is very interesting.

“Pepper Hall” Dedication
On June 12, 2016, we dedicated our
fellowship hall to the Lord as an ongoing tool
of evangelism. We named the building “Pepper
Hall” in honor of Pastor Bill Pepper who was
our Pastor from 1982 – 1990. Pastor Bill led our
church through the building of the fellowship
hall during those years. We enjoyed reuniting
with Bill and Patti at the dedication service.
The Sunday evening service was packed as
Pastor Bill told of many fond memories of his
time here at Bakerburg. He preached a very
emotional message from Philippians 1:21. He
told the story of Glenn Dewey, our founding
pastor, as he preached that people of faith dare to dream, dare to
dance, and dare to die. The people wrote him personal messages in a
little book that we passed around. Following the service, Pastor Bill
climbed a little ladder and hung the “Pepper Hall” sign. Because our
love language is food, we celebrated with cake and ice cream!

Cleveland Missions Trip
On April 23rd and 24th twenty-five people from our church went on our first annual Cleveland trip, a short missions
trip to visit our missionaries in Cleveland, OH. The Dockery’s and the Taylor’s started City View Baptist Church there over
ten years ago. They meet on the 3rd floor of the Wyndam Hotel.
Ken Dockery took us on a tour of the city on Saturday evening. Of special interest was the world renowned Cleveland
Clinic where Ken has had 2 major heart surgeries. This inner city ministry was a real eye opener to us country folk from
Tioga County, PA! Our hearts were touched as we watched this diverse group of new believers pray, share testimonies, sing
and worship together. It was great for our church people to get to know this ministry but also to get to know each other
better. New friendships were formed spending so much time in the church van together. This trip is one of many ways we
plan to keep missions fresh in our ministry.

Barger
On June 11,
2016 Levi and Kelsey
were married at the Mainesburg United Methodist
Church. Dave Dressler, our former pastor, presided
at the ceremony. They met as teens in the youth
group here at Bakerburg a few years ago. They will be
living down in Williamsport, PA. Our church family
wishes this new couple God’s very best in their new
life together.
Kim and Lindy Griswold
have been a faithful part of
the Bakerburg family for
over 7 years. Because Lindy’s
health has been deteriorating over the last year or so Kim, her daughter,
stopped working to stay home and care for her. They are currently trying
to sell their house in Ogdensburg, PA and plan to move in with Lindy’s
son, Kirk, Newmanstown, PA (3 hours away) so that the family can
better care for their mother. We will miss them dearly. We had a time
of refreshments and fellowship after the evening service in Pepper Hall
to say goodbye. Many wrote them a personal note and signed a canvas
picture of our church for them to take with them. We concluded the
evening by singing “We’ll Never Say Goodbye in Glory.” Their new
address will be 210 Chapel RD, Newmanstown, PA 17073.
Three families publicly
dedicated their children to the
Lord this past Mother’s Day.
Andrew and Jess McClendon
dedicated their daughter, Emma,
with all 4 of her grandparents standing with her. Mark and
Tara Dittrick dedicated their baby boy, Caleb, with Tara’s
parents standing with them. Kristen Tokarz dedicated her son,
Michael, with her mother and Michael’s adopted grandpa,
Ralph Candelori standing with them in support. Pastor Paul
preached a message that morning challenging all parents to
give their children to the Lord.
Summer Fun Club
2016
2016
Jen Casler has put
together a mini work
force for this children’s
ministry. The club meets
on Wednesday nights for
3 months throughout
the summer on the
back porch of the missionary house next door. The theme this
summer is “The Ten Commandments.” Kirt Casler wrote a song
that includes all the commandments that the kids are learning.
They are doing a large creative craft along with other unique
recreation. Also planned is a water balloon night, a McDonald’s
night, a water slide night, a campfire night
and an obstacle course night. Summer
Fun Club started with 15 kids and the
excitement will likely bring in many more.
DID YOU KNOW
As of 1-29-2016, the
national debt reached $19,000,000,000,000. It is hard to
comprehend what one trillion means, let alone nineteen trillion.
If a million seconds equals 12 days, a billion seconds would
equal 32 years, then a trillion seconds would equal 32,000 years.
A tightly packed stack of new $100 bills totaling one million
would be about 4 feet high. A billion dollars, 4000 feet high
or equivalent to about three Sears Towers stacked on top of
one another. That means a stack of 100 dollar bills totaling one
trillion would be 789 miles or 144 Mount Everest's stacked on
top of one another!! It has taken only 13 months for the debt to
go from 18 trillion to 19 trillion. The debt is now rising at a rate
By Don York
of $100,000 every ten seconds. The amount of debt per every
U.S. citizen is $58,845. The debt has gone up nine trillion in
the past 7 years. Our children and grandchildren will inherit a
debt that cannot be paid off.
According to Romans 5:12, we inherit a sin nature...
"Wherefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world, and death
by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."
We have a sin debt that we cannot repay. The bad news is that
our national debt will never be repaid. The good news is our sin
debt is paid in full by Jesus Christ at Calvary! Romans 5:8 says,
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us."
