REGISTRATION
Time: 01-May, 12:00pm - 1: 30pm
Venue: Dragon Leisure Centre, PL31 1DE
Give yourself plenty of time (1.5h) to register, sort out
your equipment in the transition area, attend your
designated race briefing and report to the swim start.
Step I
Upon arrival, please proceed with your bike, bike helmet and
Eventbrite Ticket (print out) to the transition zone (see walking
route on parking map). A marshal will check your helmet strap
and handlebar end plugs on entry. See ‘Transition’ for more info
on how and where to rack your bike.
Step II
Once you have racked your bike, please follow the signs to
registration (conference room at the leisure centre). All
participants are required to either produce a valid Home Nations
Membership License or purchase a Day Membership on race
day. Day Membership fee is £1 for juniors (prices set by British
Triathlon, INTOTRI gets 0%)
STEP III
At registration, a marshal will body mark you (left calf, right arm)
and hand you your event pack which contains:
•
•
•
Two race numbers that are worn during the cycle and run.
Please note any medical conditions or allergies on the back.
If using a race belt, please display your race numbers back
to back to be visible in case the number flips up.
A numbered sticker that goes on the front of your head
tube. To pick up your bike post event, marshals will check
that your sticker matches your race number. No match, no
bike.
A timing chip and Velcro strap to be worn around your left
ankle - this must be worn throughout all 3 disciplines and will
need to be handed in at the finish line (£20 fee for lost
chips).
Collecting bikes & kit post event:
Please note that bike pickup post event is only possible after all
competitors have finished the cycling leg or at certain times
communicated on event day. Entry and exit of the transition
zone will be from the rear only.
GETTING CHANGED & STORING KIT
Participants have access to dedicated changing facilities at the
Dragon Leisure Centre. Please only take the gear you need for
the cycle and run leg into the transition zone as space is limited.
Unnecessary kit should be left with parents.
INTOTRICORNISHTRISERIES–BODMIN,SENIOREVENTPACK
EVENT BRIEFING
Time: From 13:45pm
A mandatory event briefing for competitors will take place for
each age group approximately 15min before their allocated swim
start.
TRANSITION
Please rack your bike by looping the saddle over the horizontal
bar, one bike facing left, next right, etc. and store your kit to the
left of your bike (when looking at the rack). Remember, no boxes
allowed in transition. A small soft backed backpack is fine but
keep your kit to a minimum as space is at a premium.
Unnecessary kit should be left with parents.
Once you have picked up your event pack at registration, head
back to transition and stick your number label to the front of
your head tube. To pick up your bike post event, marshals will
check that the sticker on your bike matches your race number.
No match, no bike.
Time: From 12:00pm
TIP
Always put on and fasten your helmet before taking
the bike off the rack
Note: No assistance is permitted in the transition area. Please
only enter the transition area where instructed to do so when
racking your bike before your start as other competitors will
already be racing and we do not want any chips being triggered
by mistake.
Pre Event
Upon arrival, head straight to transition with your bike and bike
helmet and present your Eventbrite Ticket to the marshals. They
will check your helmet strap and handlebar end plugs before you
are allowed to rack your bike in the designated area for your
wave (wave number sent out by email 3 days prior to the event).
Handy Tips
Organise When setting up transition, only take the essentials
in with you. This will help you get in and out of transition quicker
with minimal fuss and stress!
Visualise Transition can often be a busy and sometimes
confusing place on event day. Make sure you know your swim
exit, bike out & in and run out to help gain those precious
seconds! Familiarise yourself with the one-way system and look
out for something visual near your bike slot, making it easy to
spot when you are running into transition.
Prepare Make sure your bike is set up in the right gear to
tackle the first hill out of the leisure centre car park. You don’t
want to be left struggling in the first few meters of the event.

Time: From 2pm
Distances:

All age groups as of 31-Dec 2017
Swim Course: 8y-14y
Competitors will be placed in starting waves according to their
age group and estimated swim time. Starting in the water (strictly
no diving), participants will be set off in 15 sec intervals (3 sec
countdown), snaking through the pool for their allocated swim
distance. Starting on one side of the pool (or the middle,
depending on distance), participants swim up one lane, duck
under the lane rope and swim down the next lane, duck under
the rope and so forth, exiting the pool on the other side.
To overtake, tap the feet of the swimmer in front of you and
proceed to overtake swiftly on the right. If your feet are being
tapped, proceed at your pace staying left and let the faster
swimmer pass.
Swim Course: 15y-16y
Competitors will be placed in starting waves according to their
age group and estimated swim time. Starting in the water (strictly
no diving), participants share a double lane, swimming side by
side and staying on their side of the lane throughout the swim. It
is a rolling start with the next swimmer entering the water as
soon as a lane becomes available. A float will be placed in the
water at the end of the pool when the swimmer has 2 lengths to
go.
Swim to Bike Transition
Please obey the no running rule poolside when leaving the water
and exit the pool area via the designated route. A pair of shoes
may be placed in a marked area near the exit for your run to
transition (on mixed surface). The time will be taken at transition
so the run to transition will be included in your swim time.
INTOTRICORNISHTRISERIES–BODMIN,SENIOREVENTPACK
Relay Teams
The hand over from swim to bike will be in the transition zone.
Bike riders will need to wait to the left hand side of their racked
bike. Once the timing chip has been handed over and fastened
to the cyclist’s ankle, riders can put on their helmet, fasten the
straps and un-rack their bike.
Swim Rules

at the pool ready to start at least 10 min before your start
time.

marshals at hand; however it is the child’s responsibility to know
the route. All children will need to complete the appropriate
number of laps according to their age before returning to the
transition zone to rack their bikes. Please note, it is the child’s
responsibility to know how many laps they are required to
complete and to count them. To assist with lap counting, children
will be given a PINK band at the end of each lap, which they
should wear around their wrist. Children MUST stop to collect
these. The bands will then be counted once they have crossed
the finish line to check they have done the appropriate number
of laps.
Rules
• Helmets must be worn and fastened at all times when in
contact with your bike.
• It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure the road-worthiness
of their children’s bike.
• Mount and dismount at designated points and push bike out

• Children who do not have the required number of bands will
be disqualified for not completing the course.
Relay Teams
After completing the bike leg, the bike needs to be racked first
before the timing chip can be handed over to the runner waiting

SPECTATORS
•
Spectators are most welcome at INTOTRI’s Cornish Tri Series.
Please note that for safety and security reasons you cannot
enter the transition zone and seats at the swimming pool viewing
area are limited. However, you can follow the action in the pool
and transition zone from the large window front and a
segregated area of the car park. There are also plenty of
opportunities to watch the runners and cyclists along the course
as well as at the finish line.
TIMING & RESULTS
You will receive a chip-timing device which will be the same as
your race number for the duration of the race. Competitors must
wear their allocated chip on their left ankle throughout the event
and ensure they hand it in to the marshal at the end of the race.
Lost chips are subject to a £20 fee to replenish our stock.
Live results will be available during the event where possible.
We will also upload all timings the night of the event and email
you a link to the official timing results the day after.
GENERAL NOTES
•

the cycle and run routes, but we must emphasise that it is
•
•
•
•
the responsibility of the competitor to negotiate both routes
correctly and safely.
All competitors must adhere to the Triathlon Code of
Conduct which is available at the back of this pack.
Breaking of any British Triathlon rules may result in
disqualification.
The decision of the Race Director / Referee is final.
No physical assistance of any sort is allowed at any point
during the triathlon.
No MP3 players, iPods, personal stereos or mobile phones
are allowed to be used during the race.

CODE OF CONDUCT
The following Code of Conduct must be followed by all parents
and guardians of athletes competing in INTOTRI’s Cornish Tri
Series:
• Encourage your child to learn the British Triathlon
Competition Rules and the exact distances of each race
they are competing in (i.e. how many lengths they swim,
how many laps they cycle etc). Athletes must take
responsibility for ensuring they complete the correct
distances.
• Parents/Guardians are not permitted to assist athletes
during the race. Any assistance may lead to an athlete

being disqualified.
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just
results. Never punish or belittle your child for losing,
making mistakes or a poor performance. Only ever
encourage in a positive manner.
Never pace your child or run beside them. Doing so may
lead to an athlete being disqualified.
If you intend to take any photographs/video footage at
any event, you must familiarise yourselves with the British
Triathlon guidelines to taking photos/video.
Use appropriate language at all times. Swearing and
abusive language is completely unacceptable by athletes
and parents, and may lead to an athlete being
disqualified.
Officials, referees, marshals and event volunteers must
not be approached, confronted or challenged during an
event. Anyone doing so will lead to their child being
disqualified. If you wish to challenge the result of an event
or the distances an athlete has completed, the appeals
procedure must be followed but not until all the day’s
races are completed.
Appeals
An appeal is a request for a review of a decision made by a
referee, official or marshal. Appeals cannot be made against
“judgment calls” by officials. Judgment calls include, but are not
limited to, drafting, dangerous riding, number violation and
unsporting conduct. Appeals must be made in writing to the race
referee within one hour of a penalty being posted.
INTOTRI and Triathlonstore look forward to
seeing you at the Cornish Tri Series events.
