PROPAGANDA PROJECT

PROPAGANDA PROJECT
DUE:
Major test grade
The purpose of this project is to understand and demonstrate the use of
persuasive techniques – including manipulative techniques, audience focus,
appeals to logos/pathos/ethos.
You will choose a group of 3-5 people. Immediately write down each other’s
phone numbers. Each group will:
1) Make up a product, candidate, or church—may not use an existing brand
name, but can be a ―take-off‖ (Mikey shoes instead of Nike, etc.)
2) Write a script (see back) for your commercial. You must include a
speaking part for each member of your group.
3) Your script must include a minimum of three propaganda techniques.
NOTE the use of these techniques on your script, but don’t ―announce‖
them during your commercial.
4) Time – your commercial must be at least 45 seconds, but no longer than
two minutes.
5) The use of costumes and neat, well-constructed props is integral to the
overall effect of your commercial.
6) Final draft of your script must be turned in with video.
7) All commercials are to be filmed and will be judged.
*****You are responsible for filming with your own supplies. If no one in
your group has access to a video camera, you are responsible for making
a timely appointment to borrow (and use on campus) my camera. You
are responsible for bringing your video to class in a form that can be
played on the school computer—your video is to be ready to play at the
beginning of class.
8) Very little classtime will be allotted for work during school hours – the rest
will be on your own time.
PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED!!!
Best Acting, Best Editing/Technical Achievement, Most Convincing,
Most Original Product, Funniest Commercial
Each student must participate. Each member of the group will receive the same
grade, however, teacher evaluation during the creative rehearsal process may
affect an individual’s grade.
