Middle School Week 3 imin! Bottom Line We must do justice out of merciful love daily In the Bible Micah 6:8 Big Picture Being a part of the true justice that God calls us to involves our heart for the people that injustice affects. Jesus fought for the people and He loved and led with a heart of compassion for the hurt, broken, and lost. It is a struggle that we must also bear in our lives every day. Fighting for true justice and those who need it isn’t easy, but it is a part of who we must be as God’s people. Life Group Discussion Questions remember, imin! to listen, believe, and connect LIFE GROUP ACTIVITY (3-5 minutes) | for bringing the Life Group together and having some fun Word Association Get everyone into a circle. Going clock-wise around the room, each person has 2-seconds to respond to the previous answer. For example.... start the circle with “House” then the next person responds with “cabin”, next person responds with “woods”, next person responds with, etc.... until it goes all the way around. Then compare the starting word and the last word. Person with the wildest response has to explain their association. FROM THE RELATIONSHIP | questions that are designed for building the relationships in Life Group Discuss: Describe your favorite movie theater foods (hot dogs, nachos, popcorn with butter/salt, candy). What did we do this week after talking last Wednesday about putting together a plan to do something about some global injustices? How was your week? FROM THE TENSION | “you” directed questions for driving personal tension and connects to the topics 1. Who are some people you think to be the “least” in your world? Why? 2. You may or may not treat them differently, but what does how you “see” them affect your heart? We’ve talked about how your heart should break for the world and for injustice, but does your heart break for the people that injustice affects? 3. (keep a list) What are some examples of injustices in your schools, communities, and close circles? (friends/families) Now, think, not about this list of injustices, but the people that these injustices inflict. Go down the list and describe how each can affect a person. Describe some of the emotions you may feel talking about this. Is it normal to feel this way? Why or why not, in your opinion? FROM THE TRUTH | using the momentum from the Tension, point towards the truth and hope of the Bible Have a Student read Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” 4. What are some verbs that describe what God tells us to do in this verse? (act justly, love, walk humbly, etc…) 5. What does God’s example for us say about how He wants us to help those around us and against injustice? FROM THE APPLICATION | helping the Life Group, as a whole, to discover how their faith comes to life in tangible and realistic actions/decisions Remember the process... Clarify the injustice | Figure out what is truly wrong Make a plan | Ask God to help guide you Qualify your plan | Bring your plan to a spiritual mentor Execute the plan | Do it 6. What are some areas where we see injustice? (schools, friends, family, community, youth group) What are some injustices we see? (see above) Which ones are we called to do something about as a Christian and in a godly way? (all of them) 7. How can our Life Group be a part of #truejustice? How can we as individuals be a part? NEXT STEP Ask your students for prayer requests. Pray with them.
