5th Edition of the “Wooly Bully Races” Amherst Island, Ontario. Updated Shuttle Bus Information Below DATE: Sunday, August 14, 2016. Start Times: 1K – 9:15 a.m. 5 & 10K – 9:30 a.m. RACES: 5/10K events held on a very scenic out and back route along the South Shore of Lake Ontario. There will be at least 2 aid stations, each kilometer will be marked. 10K race is event # 7 in the 2016 Kingston Road Race Series 10K race is 3rd event in the “Triisland Race Series’’ (Howe Island/Wolfe Island/Amherst Island) Go to www.krra.org for further details on both series. 1K Fun Run: A timed event for children 5‐12 years of age on an out and back course. NOTE: There will be a free babysitting service. Please email the race director ahead of time to reserve. LOCATION: The race site is at the homestead of Dave Willard, Amherst Island, 600 South Shore Road. RACE FEES: 5/10K ‐ $30 for Kingston Road Runners Association members; $35 Non‐members. 18 & under $15; (HST and online fees are not included and will appear as an extra charge on your receipt). 1K: $5 per entry. This event is for children over 5 years of age. It will be timed but there will be no prizes for top runners. Parents can run with their children if they feel it necessary but not required to register. Each child will receive a souvenir at the finish line and refreshments. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016. Registration will be accepted at Runner’s Choice store 56 Brock Street, Kingston, Saturday, August 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. REGISTRATION: Go to www.events.com and search for the ‘Wooly Bully’ under “Events.” PRIZES: 1st 3 men and women in each race and top 3 in the following categories: 5K – 14 & under; 15‐19; 20‐29; 30‐39; 40‐49; 50‐59; 60‐69; 70‐79; 80 plus 10K – 19 & under; 20‐29; 30‐39; 40‐49; 50‐59; 60‐69; 70‐79; 80 plus POST RACE BAR‐B‐QUE: New this year is our post‐race bar‐b‐que that will feed runners and volunteers after the race. There will be veggie burgers included with the hamburgers/hot dogs along with soft drinks and some snack items. Granola bars and fruit will also be available for those who do not wish to eat from the bar‐b‐que. T‐SHIRTS: Order a “Wooly Bully Races” t‐shirt when you register online. These are 50% cotton/50% polyester. Unisex sized, S, M, L & XL. There is an added charge of $5 if ordered by August 8th when you register online. PROCEEDS: Directed to the Amherst Island Public School to help fund extracurricular activities. TRANSPORTATION: Take the Amherst Island Ferry, located east of Bath, Ontario on Highway 33. The ferry departs at 6:30 a.m. from the dock located on Highway 33(Bath Road), Millhaven, Ontario, every hour on the half hour. The 9:30 race start is designed to give passengers on the 8:30 a.m. trip across ample time to land on Amherst Island, get to the race site and warm up. Race officials will be on site at 7:30 a.m. on race day. The ferry departs the Island every hour, on the hour. We will also have a bus that will pick up runners at the Henderson Recreation Centre in
Amherstview at 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. to take you to the ferry for the 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
crossing and drop you off on Amherst Island. A bus will be at the dock at Stella to take
you to the race site. After the race, the bus will leave the race site at 10:40 a.m. and 11:40
a.m. and take you to the ferry for the trip over to the mainland. The cost is $5 return,
payable on the trip back.
