Awards Banquet
Jr. High—6:00pm
On Oct. 23, the Whiteoak Drama Club hosted their annual
Masquerade Ball. The turnout
was not as great as they expected, but they still had loads
of fun. Wyatt Wesch won the
Grand Prize Pumpkin full of
candy and other prizes for his
Limbo skills. "I am the King of
Limbo." He says. There were
many other games, such as an
Egg Relay, Pin the Mouth on
the Skeleton, and a Ghost Ring
Toss.
The costume contest was also a
success, with Janis Henry and
Lexa Smalley winning the award
for Best Dressed, Gabe Sheppard
for Best Original, Vivien Wesch for
Scariest, and Mrs. Hahn for Funniest. When asked what they were,
Janis and Lexa replied that they
were Phantom Twins, Gabe said
he was "Gabraham Lincoln",
Vivien said she was an Irish Vampire Princess, and Mrs. Hahn
joked that she was a Spanish
Teacher/Vampire Slayer. The winners all received $5.00 gift cards
for McDonald's.

Teacher Talk: MR. WOOD, JR. HIGH SOCIAL STUDIES
This week's teacher talk features
Mr. Wood. He attended college
at Wilmington College from 1997
-2002. Mr. Wood has been
teaching about 13 years. He
decided to become a teacher
because he wanted to “live the
dream.” His most memorable
moments while teaching is when
he gives his students nicknames. Mr. Woods favorite sport
and sports team is Scotland
Soccer. His favorite type of mu-
sic is 90s rock and he loves thin
crust pizza. One thing he would like
to mention is that his favorite bible
verse/quote is Philippians 4:13 (I
can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me.), and he would like
to say that he loves his family.

Senior Spotlight: CHRISTIAN HILL
This week’s Senior Spotlight is
on Christian Hill. Christian is the
son of Darin and Amy Hill. Christian’s plan after high school is to
go to Southern State and take
his basic classes to get them out
of the way. He then plans to
transfer once he figures out what
he wants to major in.
Christian's favorite memory at
Whiteoak is “when I went to
Butler Springs my freshman and
sophomore year and when I
caught five flies during baseball
practices and games”. His worst
memory is “when I couldn’t fit JOGS
and weight lifting into my schedule
my junior and senior year”.
Christian has several favorite teachers so he can’t pick just one because they all encourage students
to be the best they can be.
