2.03 How to find the : assessment 2.03 Help for the Questions #1

2.03 How to find the assessment:
For this assignment you will go to your LESSONS and then to lesson 2.03.
Read all the pages of Lesson 2.03 and follow the directions to complete the 5 questions on the
LAB WORK FILE.
As you view the SLIDE SHOW at the bottom of the 2.03 Lesson page, you will observe light
passing through 3 different Mediums; Water, a Glass Window and a Diamond. Use these
observations to help you answer the 5 questions on the Lab Worksheet. There is an image of
the questions below.
Feel free to type your answers to these 5 questions in the student comments box, or in a
separate document that you attach to the assessment
2.03 Help for the Questions
#1. When examining the three media in the lab which medium did you think
would cause the most bending of light when the light passed through it?
Did you see the slide show showing light passing through the Water, The glass
window and the Diamond? Which of those 3 mediums or materials did you
think would cause light to bend the most? Time to make a prediction!!
#2. Which medium caused the most bending of light as it passed through?
You are looking at light shining through water, a glass window and a diamond.
Which medium caused the light to BEND or REFRACT the most?
#3: How much the light is bending depends on what?
Hmmmm, this is tough one. The light does not bend the same each time. It
bends differently when it goes through the water or the glass or the diamond.
Why is that? Does it have something to do with the type of material the light is
traveling through? Look at those slides one time. See if you can find the correct
answer to this one.
#4: When light strikes the second medium what are the two things that
happen?
Take a look at the image below to help you with this one. This image is straight
from lesson 2.03:
#5. Give an example of a time that you have observed how light bends as it
travels from the air through a different medium.
Make sure your example includes plenty of details! Use the following questions
to help you add detail to this answer; Where was the light coming from? What
material was it shining through that allowed you to observe light bending? Did
the bending of the light change the appearance of what you were looking at?
