Daring yet simply elegant, each Love, Nyri piece stands out as a reflection of the talent and
vision of the remarkable young woman behind this handmade jewelry line. At 25, Love, Nyri
founder Riva Nyri Précil’s designs are evocative, contemporary and bold.
The daughter of an Irish/Russian mother and Haitian father, Riva was raised between Port-auPrince and New York City, and the inspiration she gained from her experiences is evident in
both her artistic and charitable endeavors. She co-founded a charity focused on reading to
displaced children after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 and even authored a children’s book
in Creole. Her journey has inspired her to celebrate Haitian culture through unique designs
that employ traditional Haitian techniques to create each handmade piece.
Trained as a jazz vocalist at the prestigious LaGaurdia School of Performing Arts in NYC and in music therapy at Loyola University, in New Orleans,
Riva represents the beauty she sees in her heritage as a singer, dancer and jewelry designer.

Classics
This line will offer Riva’s most popular and accessibly-priced pieces.

Custom
Occasionally, Riva will produce a bespoke piece for a client who contacts her directly and
inspires her with either a beautiful story or a beautiful design.

This line will feature only one new piece per month, which will be theme-inspired (i.e.

Love, Nyri’s inspiration from Haitian tradition and Riva’s personal commitment to having a social
impact on women’s lives will be represented by a partnership with a member organization of
the UN and WTO’s jointly launched Ethical Fashion Initiative, which provides training and jobs in
the fashion industry to women in Ghana, Kenya, Burkina Faso and Haiti. Love, Nyri has identified
and contacted five different organizations and is seeking to have at least 25% of its jewelry line
produced in Port-au-Prince by the end of 2015.
Love, Nyri’s Founder, Riva Nyri Précil, will provide hands-on training in
traditional jewelry-making techniques, directly to women’s groups. By
partnering with an Ethical Fashion Initiative member organization, Love, Nyri
will afford a number of women in Haiti the opportunity to gain valuable
training that will enable them to obtain and maintain a job and hopefully, even
skills that may one day empower them to launch their own ventures. Riva
believes in the proverb that talks of teaching people how to fish over simply
giving them a fish.

Classics
Love, Nyri’s ‘Classics’ line is not only a reflection of the
Founder’s outlook toward life, but a celebration of
individuality and the search for one’s authenticity in an ever
more compromising world. Riva’s pieces, with names such as
‘Fearless Rebel,’ ‘Edge’ and ‘Knuckle Up’ honor a life spent
battling convention and assimilation for it’s own sake. While
other pieces, like ‘Lune,’ ‘’Trifecta,’ and ‘Deep Blue Sea’
suggest one can be hopeful about the possibility that her life
can be inclusive, deep and complex, while also being
harmonized and balanced. The message Riva tries to
transmit through these pieces is that one need not give up or
forsake pieces of herself that may be in conflict, but rather
that together all the different pieces can create a beautiful,
unique and complete person.

Bohio
The Republic of Haiti is located on one of the four islands of the Greater
Antilles that the native people of several tribes, chiefly the Tainos and
Arawak, named “Bohio” or “Quisqueya” – meaning "Mountainous Land" or
"Great Land." The island was baptized La Isla Española (Hispaniola) by the
Spanish colonizers and later, French colonizers called it Saint-Domingue.
After proclaiming its independence on January 1, 1804, the Western part of
the island took back the Amerindian name of Haïti (Ayiti). But many, still
choose to fondly and proudly recall the island’s historic names, to remind
themselves of its pre-colonial heritage.
The Bohio line was inspired by the undeniable strength and endurance
laced throughout Haitian culture and history. Each piece was therefore
created with the strong, bold and fearless woman in mind. And as a fashion
