Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, solid, dry and free from dust, dirt, oil, soot, wax, mildew,
chalking, loose stain or all other contaminants.
► Clean surface with Polyprep® cleaner 771-135, 771-136, or the appropriate
cleaner for removing the contaminant. Rinse well.
─ Remove mildew with a solution of household bleach (1 part household bleach to
3 parts of water). Wear rubber gloves and eye protection. Rinse thoroughly with
clear water.
► New wood or bare weathered wood: Clean with exterior wood cleaner,
brightener and conditioner Sico® 771-222, 771-333 or 771-666 or an appropriate
cleaner, rinse well with clear water.
► Surfaces in poor condition: Depending on the condition; remove all stain with a
stripper, a pressure jet or by scraping. Clean with exterior wood cleaner,
brightener and conditioner. Rinse well with clear water.
► Surfaces previously treated with a waterproof product containing wax: Strip the
surface.
► Sand horizontal surfaces using No. 80-grit sandpaper and vertical surfaces
using No. 120 grit sandpaper.
► Eliminate sanding residues.
Precaution: Dry sanding, flame cutting and/or welding of dry stain film will give
rise to dust and/or hazardous fumes. Wet sanding should be used, wherever
possible. If exposure cannot be avoided by the provision of local exhaust
ventilation, suitable respiratory protective equipment should be used.
► Previously stained wood in good condition: Wash well and rinse well.
► Repair holes and cracks with a suitable filler for the surface.
─ If wood exudes resin, scrape the excess and clean surface with alcohol or paint
thinner. On bare wood, seal knots with shellac Polyprep 205-112 before applying
the primer.
► Once the surface is free of any contaminant, wait 16 hours after light rain and
24 hours after moderate or heavy rain or pressure jet washing before to apply the
product under the recommended conditions of application.
► Moisture content of the wood must be between 12% and 18%.
• Bare wood: To prevent tannin bleeding of knotty or reddish coloured wood with
natural dyes, initially apply one or two coats of GoPrime® primer 150-135. Two
coats are required for pastel shades.
• Previously stained wood in good condition: Wash well with an appropriate
cleaner. Sand lightly with #80 sandpaper.
Application
This is a ready-to-use product, do not thin. Stir thoroughly the product before and
during application.
Pour the quantity of stain needed into another container to avoid contaminating
the original container. Keep containers closed when not in use.
Apply generously, leaving no bare spots or excessively coated areas in the direction
of wood grain to ensure colour uniformity.
Comply the product's spreading rate.
To avoid lapping, only handle a few boards at a time. Generously saturate the ends
of the boards.
Observe drying time between coats. Low temperatures or high humidity will affect
drying time. Applying two finishing coats will provide better durability and
appearance.
Wait 3 to 7 days before replacing furniture on the deck.

Recommendations
Application Conditions
Temperature: 10 to 32°C (50 to 90°F)
(ideal 20°C ± 5°C [68°F ± 9°F]).
Relative humidity: Ideal between 15 and 50%,
maximum 85%.
Do not apply when dew is imminent, under
direct sunlight, on a warm surface or during
windy conditions.
Application conditions must be maintained
during paint application and drying.
Do not apply if lower temperatures are
expected within 3 to 6 hours.
Do not apply when rain is expected within 24
hours.
High humidity or low temperatures extend
drying time.
Tools
• Paintbrush: Synthetic bristles (nylon,
polyester) 10 mm (3/8 in.).
If rolling, back brush immediately on the
surface.
Cleaning Tools
Remove as much product quantity as possible
and clean tools with lukewarm water and soap
immediately after use.
Surface Maintenance
• Let surface dry completely and wait at least
7 days before cleaning.
• High and continuous moisture content,
insufficient ventilation of wood or high traffic
areas (decks) prematurely affect the product
performance.
Storage and Transportation
Keep in a dry and ventilated area, between 10
and 30°C (50° and 86°F).
Disposal
Consult your municipality about proper
disposal procedure of residue in accordance
with the laws and respect the environment or
give leftover stain to someone who could use
it: a neighbour or friend, a recreation centre or
a non-profit organization. Do not empty into
drains.
Safety Measures
Read the Material Safety Data Sheet. Avoid
contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of
children.
FIRST AID TREATMENT: If in contact with
eyes, rinse thoroughly with clear water. If
swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call poison
centre or physician immediately.
