2017 Joshua Tyree Williams Memorial Scholarship

Joshua Tyree Williams Memorial Scholarship Guidelines
1. The applicant must complete the scholarship application online at www.communityfoundation.net.
2. Preference will be given to Applicants that participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program either as a Little
or a Big or to applicants that are a resident of Arms of Hope-Medina Campus.
3. Applicant must be a current graduating senior from Tivy High School, Comfort High School, Center Point High
School, Ingram High School, Hill Country High School, OLH High School or Medina High School.
4. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 grade point average at the time of application.
5. Applicant must be considered a full time student by the university, college, or trade school he/she attends.
6. Applicants must be accepted in an accredited college/university or trade school prior to completion of the award
process. Applicants need not be accepted by the application deadline.
7. Applicant should exemplify good character, integrity, responsibility and leadership. The scholarship selection
committee shall have discretion regarding how to account for these personal qualities in its selection process.
8. Upon completion of the Scholarship Application, a qualified applicant may be requested to appear for a personal
interview with the Community Foundation Scholarship Committee.
9. An individual who has been awarded an initial scholarship by the JOSHUA TYREE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP FUND may submit a request for an additional scholarship in each of the following three years,
provided that the recipient maintains a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Each year, the recipient must reapply for the
scholarship online at www.communityfoundation.net by the deadline date and attach a letter outlining the
recipient’s continued need and qualification for assistance along with proof of grades attained (an official
college transcript). The student will then be considered along with other qualified applicants for an additional
award that year.
10. If accepted, scholarship must be claimed within one year or it will be terminated.
11. Application (with all requested attachments) must be complete to be considered.
Application deadline is 12 noon January 25, 2017.
All applications must be completed online; no paper submissions will be accepted
