PE3 Engine Controller Installation Dyno Testing with FAST EZ-EFI and PE3 ECU Performance Electronics PE3 ECU, After Tuning Engine Power (HP) Engine Torque (ft-lb) Performance Electronics, Ltd (PE) installed a standard PE3 Series ECU in a customer vehicle. The PE3 ECU completely replaced the original FAST EZ-EFI fuel injection and MSD ignition systems that were in the car when it arrived at PE. The engine was a rebuilt Ford 289 CID with cast iron heads, low compression, aftermarket intake and exhaust. No other modifications were made to the engine between tests. FAST EZ-EFI, Auto Tuned Engine Power (HP) Engine Torque (ft-lb) The vehicle started and ran when it arrived at PE with the FAST system. It had been driven by the customer prior to arriving at PE. Driving on the street revealed that it did not pull well and seemed to be drastically down on power above 3500 RPM. In order to ensure the FAST system had fully ‘self-tuned’, PE engineers drove the vehicle for 8-10 hours both on the street and on the chassis dyno before performing the baseline tests shown to the left. The before and after tests show the drastic improvements made by switching to the PE3 ECU and tuning the system.
