The Nazca Lines

The
Nazca Lines
What are they?
The Nazca lines have been fascinating the world ever
since their recent discovery in the 1920’s. These lines
consist of several parallel, perpendicular, and
intersecting lines that form geometric shapes that
stretch for a span of 37 miles between the Inca and
Nazca Valleys. Most of these shapes resemble known
creatures such as a monkey, a spider, a species of bird,
and several others. The biggest question raised about
these lines is why were they constructed and who were
they constructed for? Whatever the answers may be,
it is clear that these lines were formed as a form of
communication. These lines may also be the oldest
vehicle delivery system that is known in our history.
Why?
The most excepted explanation for the lines
is that they were constructed for a more
divine power that is greater than the
human race. The lines may have been
made as tributaries in order to keep the gods
happy in hope of good natural luck. It is also
believed that there were human sacrifices
committed at these drawings in order to
please the gods and receive fertility, luck
with their crops, and plentiful sources of
water. This is the most widely
excepted explanation for the lines because
this was a common belief among dozens of other civilizations around this area and time
era.
Importance
If this explanation is the true meaning behind the Nazca Lines than that means the
Nazca civilization was practicing one of the earliest forms of writing through
symbolism. The Nazca had a goal of developing a permanent message from them to their
gods in order to lock in the grateful gifts that they receive. At the time these drawings
represented a powerful message that was easily understood between the Nazca’s and the
realm that was receiving the message. The message is still written in the dirt in Southern
Peru and still has a purpose in life. The lines have not changed and are representing the
same message that was portrayed almost 2000 years ago. The Nazca population
eventually died out and the translation of the message was lost with their
disappearance. For now this ancient message lays in the sand of Peru and its true
meaning is not known by the human population today. This message has been around for
thousands of years and will be around for a thousand more. Perhaps one day these
ancient Nazca Lines can have their true message understood once again, but for now
they still remain a mystery.
