Thursday 9 February at 5:45pm in your child/ren’s classroom.

share any information. This will be followed by a disco for all
students in the hall.
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL DISCO
A welcome back to school disco will be held in the hall from 68pm on Thursday 9 February. This disco is open to Aorangi

2017 TERM DATES
The dates for this year are as follows:
Term 1 Wednesday 1 February to Thursday 13 April.
Term 2 Monday 1 May to Friday 7 July.
Term 3 Monday 24 July to Friday 29 September.
Term 4 Monday 16 October to Friday 15 December.
FOCUS VALUE – RESPECT
We are working on speaking and behaving respectfully to each
other in the classroom and in the playground.
SCHOOL APP
If you haven’t already done so, please download our school
app. All the latest information is on there plus you can notify us
of any absences. This is free from the App Store.
PREP CLASS
The Wednesday afternoon class for 3-4 year olds who will be
enrolling at Aorangi School began today. If you would like to
enrol your child, please see Anna in the office. We welcome
visits so feel free to come and see the class in operation.
Whaea Peggy and Mrs Barnes will answer any questions you
have. We pick up children from Homedale Kindergarten and
Inspiring Kids.
PARKING
The council have recently installed ‘traffic calmers’ or speed
humps in Gem Street. One of them is at our school crossing.
They have also extended the yellow lines from the crossing up
to our school. This means that there is very little parking
outside of the school. We suggest that you park on Clayton
Road and get your child/ren to walk out of the top gate or else
you will need to park further down Gem Street.
We place cones at the staff car park entrances at the end of
each day as students are not allowed in there. Please do not
move the cones and bring your vehicles into this park. This is a
safety issue.
BIKES
We support all children either walking or biking to school as we
try to foster physical fitness. However, evidence shows that
children do not have a good sense of distance or spatial
awareness until they are around 8-10 years. At our school, we
prefer it children who bring their bikes to school are 8 years old
or older.
