Element of the Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2cicHXMs1w Al Aluminium or aluminum is a silvery white member of the boron group of chemical elements. It has the symbol Al, and its atomic number is 13. It is not soluble in water under normal circumstances. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal, in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface. Aluminium metal is too reactive chemically to occur natively. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite. Aluminium is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminium and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminium, at least on a weight basis, are the oxides and sulfates. Despite its prevalence in the environment, aluminium salts are not known to be used by any form of life. However, aluminum is well tolerated by plants and animals. Because of its prevalence, potential biological roles, beneficial and otherwise, for aluminium compounds are of great interest to scientists and engineers. 1 Chemistry 1. Element of the Day 10 2. Tell your students to stop by the "Think Tank" and get matched with an NHS tutor who can help out with any academic subject they need. We need your help in directing the students who you notice are are in need of support. The Think Tank is located in the conference room across from the counseling office. We have approximately 10 tutors there every morning just waiting for students to drop in and ask for help. Andy Grimm has set up Football Booster's parent volunteers to help manage the Think Tank. The parent helps match the tutor to a student's academic area of interested and then they head to the library to begin working. The Think Tank is open MF from 7:358:30 AM. If your student(s) need after school tutoring, they can visit the tutoring link on the BHS Student Tab. 3 Secrets of the Samurai Test Makeup 4 Online Activity Period 1 Student Username Password (Students can change) Student Name (Teacher Entry) 1464601 8241 Arlt, Kaitlyn C. 1464602 6461 Beatie, Natalie T. 1464603 6426 Brown, Rosemary E. 1464604 8768 Cowan, Eliana R. 1464605 5736 Delgado, Malena A. 1464606 9548 Devereaux, Christina 1464607 2159 Fabert, Emma M. 1464608 5701 Gordon, Laura 1464609 9418 Gori, Miles B. 14646010 4388 James, Alyssa L. 14646011 2814 Jameson, John C. 14646012 6196 Karreman, Anneke J. 14646013 5552 Lee, Alyssa 14646014 2307 Millican, Gregory G. 14646015 8973 Ploger, Braden J. 14646016 7094 Powell, Amber D. 14646017 7083 Sander, Cole R. 14646018 3379 Sanford, Nicole L. 14646019 8853 Scott, Benjamin W. 14646020 8423 Sellman, Megan R. 14646021 5839 Sharp, Peter S. 14646022 8081 Treskin, Kaylie J. 14646023 8996 Williamson, Benjamin T. 5 Online Activity Period 3 Student Username Password (Students can change) Student Name (Teacher Entry) 1464701 1588 AlKazily, Tarkan U. 1464702 4640 Alnwick, Ashley P. 1464703 4821 Amelang, Russ H. 1464704 6230 Bowman, Matthew D. 1464705 2816 Callaham, Shawn E. 1464706 6798 Eckert, Kathleen B. 1464707 3071 Friday, Angelic D. 1464708 5614 Ginder, Caroline R. 1464709 4540 Gonwick, Dawson L. 14647010 6763 Haines, Madeline A. 14647011 9600 Hobbs, Robert M. 14647012 8385 Holt, Ryan A. 14647013 4246 Ieropoli, Ryan B. 14647014 2742 Jackson, Jordan M. 14647015 6137 Jumpa, Aaron M. 14647016 7212 Kulfan, Riley L. 14647017 6440 McCann, Cristen H. 14647018 9389 McCombs, Duncan N. 14647019 1961 Minasian, Aria L. 14647020 9125 Olson, Sonia K. 14647021 4140 Philip, Samantha L. 14647022 3487 Rabinowitz, Maiya R. 14647023 7675 Ragsdale, Albert C. 14647024 6026 Reynolds, Devon B. 14647025 3335 Schuelke, Maximilian 14647026 3757 Strevell, Noah C. 14647027 9174 Wiggins, Kaitlyn R. 14647028 7042 Wolgamott, Melody A. 14647029 4520 Young, Ruth P. 6 Mystery Question As we embark on our new unit of study, states of matter, consider the two following questions.
