Theme-based Worship + Happiness Challgenges = Fun!
Every month at UUCA, we are linking the worship theme with a “Happiness
Challenge,” which is a concrete thing that people can do at home as a way of
extending and deepening their experience in the Sunday services. September’s
theme is BELOVED COMMUNITY, and so this month’s Happiness Challenge is
about helping to create more of that in the world beyond these walls.
We trade the most valuable thing we have—our moments on this earth—for
money. So this month’s Happiness Challenge is to spend a small amount of
money to spread joy. Give a large tip to the shuttle bus driver at the airport …
pay for the coffee that the person behind you in the Starbuck’s line ordered …
use your money for some random act of kindness and increase the total mass of
happiness in the universe. Try it, you’ll like it—it will make you HAPPY!
And then tell us your story! What happened? What did it feel like? What did
you learn about Beloved Community? We have set up a Happiness Challenge
page on Tumblr at http://uucahappiness.tumblr.com. Submit your stories there,
and they will automatically be published to our UUCA Happiness Challenge
Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/UUCAHappiness) as well as our
UUCA Twitter account.
Try it, you’ll like it! It’ll make you HAPPY!
