deskPad 2.0
User’s Guide
Welcome to the deskPad 2.0 User’s Guide.
The following pages will give you an idea of what deskPad is capable of and tell you how to use deskPad.
The most important thing to remember when using deskPad is that you will typically have to tap twice on
something to edit it. This was done to allow the easy movement of items around the screen - by simply
touching and item and dragging it.
So, for stickis, you must tap 2x to edit text..... and for recycled stickis you must tap 2x to get it into edit
mode... only then can you turn it back into a regular sticki or delete it.
To minimize a sticki you tap it’s top bar 2x.... to maximize it (put it back to normal) just tap 2x again.
The following slides are shown on an iPad - this was done because of the increased space on the iPad - but
the app performs the same exact way on an iPhone or iPod Touch.
After the slides you will also find a section explaining the deskPad backup and restore utility that can be
downloaded from our website on the downloads page.
At the end of this guide is also a list of things I would like to add as enhancements to deskPad. The list is
not a guarantee that any of the items will be implemented, or denotes any form of priority.
The first
task we
will
discuss
is editing
tabs. To
get into
the tab
edit
screen
you
simply
tap twice
on a tab.
Hopefully
you read
that you
simply
tap on
one of the
tabs at
the top to
exit the
tab edit
screen.
Backup and Restore Utility
Where you can find it: It can be downloaded from the Downloads page on our website.
Requirements: Bonjour must be installed on your PC (Bonjour should already be installed on Macs).
Bonjour for windows can be downloaded from the Apple support web site.
How to install it:
Mac: The application is a single file that can be placed anywhere on your Mac.
Windows: Download the zip file from our website and save it on your desktop. Open the zip file and
double click on the Setup.exe file to start the install. Follow the instructions of the installer. After it is
installed, you can run the program from Start -> Programs -> deskPad Win
How to use it: Start the program and follow the directions. The general use of the program is to start the
program, click the Register button to register deskPad onto the Bonjour network, start the deskPad app
on your iPhone/iPod/iPad and tap the connect button in the lower left (next to the wash pail) - deskPad
on your Mac/PC should automatically connect. You can now use the Backup or Restore button on the
Mac/PC to initiate those functions - it will ask you for the file name to use.
Possible Enhancements
This is NOT a commitment or guarantee to provide any of the following enhancements to the deskPad
product. It is simply a list of items that I have thought would be nice to add to the product. Whether I add
any of these enhancements will depend partly on the popularity and sales of deskPad - It has to be worth
my while financially to continue development. One way that you can help with this is to leave me positive
feedback for the app on iTunes - with the hopes that others reading the feedback will be enticed to
purchase the app.... the more purchases, the better possibilities for enhancements.
Redo the writing surface to allow for the erasing of marks.
Creation of a Mac/PC application that will allow the view and edit of your data on the workstation.
Synchronization of data between devices verses the simple backup/restore of data.
Scrolling of the tabs - allow an unlimited number of tabs. ** In 2.1 - Already uploaded for Review **
Handwriting recognition.
Line drawing.
Connection lines/arrows between stickis.
Alarms for stickis - where you would not have to be in the app to be notified.
Ability to email stickis or send them peer-to-peer.
Allow images as backgrounds or inline.
Ability to search.
Options for the app - such as default font and size, colors, sticki sizes
