Instructions
Preparation:
1. Give each student a “Picture Pieces” sheet, a “What’s the Picture?” sheet, an answer
sheet, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick.
2. Place the task cards around the room.
Completing the activity:
1. Find one of the task cards and solve the math problem on it. You do not need to solve
the task cards in order. Record your answer on your answer sheet beside the problem
number that matches that card.
2. Find the picture square from your “Picture Pieces” sheet that contains that same
answer.
3. Cut out that square and glue it onto your “What’s the Picture?” sheet. The square
should be glued on top of the box that matches the problem number of the card you
just solved. For example, if you just solved the card labelled “Problem #3,” then the
square should be glued on top of the box that reads “Paste answer to: Problem #3.”
4. Repeat the same with all 24 task cards until you have completed the puzzle.
Note: You can use these task cards at any time without using the picture puzzle.
The picture puzzle just adds additional incentive and fun to solving these
challenging problems!
