How many sides to a basalt column?
These photographs were all taken at the Giant’s Causeway in Northern
Ireland.
Choose a photograph.
Choose a column but make sure you can see all its sides.
Count the number of sides.
Count the number of sides of all the remaining columns on the photograph
providing you can see all their sides
Do this for each photograph.
Make a list of the number of columns with 3, 4, 5, 6. 7, and 8 sides.
