Kia ora tatou.
This newsletter has to start by acknowledging the success of
Tuinga Tahi at Putangitangi this year.
The kids were disciplined and polished in their performance; the
trophies came as a result. You can see the performance here:

They returned to school justifiably, feeling very proud of
themselves. However, it was watching them in the staffroom,
looking at the trophies before school on Monday morning, that
you could see the significance of their achievement starting to hit
home.
Awhi Mataira’s tutoring is the icing on a cake built upon the
earlier years of Raiha Johnson’s work with Tuinga Tahi and,
more recently, Te Kotahitanga: well done, ladies; it is a privilege
to work with you.
In turn, both Awhi and Raiha are actively supported by parents
and staff alike; the commitment, mutual respect, and the sheer
persistence that is necessary at time, make this, truly, a whole
team achievement.
“One Small Act”
In Terms 2 & 3 of this year, Room 11 has been involved in
an inquiry which focusses on helping to support the Fountain
of Peace Foundation which is working in the Ugandan village
of Rwenjaza.
The kids are now in the last stage of the inquiry and invite
the community to support them by going to
https://www.facebook.com/waverleyparkschool and viewing
and voting on the performance videos they have uploaded.

Each vote costs $1.00 (you can give more if you wish).
Just place your money in an envelope with the name of
your preferred performance written on it.
Post your vote and money in the money-box at the
office.
Room 11 will keep a tally of the votes as they come in
and the winner will be announced via the newsletter,
the Waverley Park website, and Facebook page.
Our aim is to get as many as possible in the community to
vote and raising as much money as possible to support the
children in Rwenjaza.
opposition. 16-6. However, Waverley showed great
sportsmanship. Well done. POD (for great passing and
team play): Tyler-Toni Mataira McLatchie.
The Wizards won in a fantastic game. Beginning with no
score for the first 6 minutes (it was that close), 10-8 was
the final score. POD Lachlan Burgess scored 4 of the
goals - amazing shooting – that’s what can happen when
you practise.

One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking
in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of
questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth
fairy will never believe this!'”
