Racing Information Rules and Circulation Pattern

Racing Information Rules and Circulation Pattern
All circulation patterns on the water are in a clockwise direction. Lane 3 is closed.
Boats will go to the start in lane 7 as far as the 250 meter mark before slipping into lane 6 and
continue around the start pontoon on the NRC side and passing under the bridge, water level
permitting (Please take note this will be clarified at the athlete’s briefings which are compulsory).
All boats will warm up and cool down above the bridge in a clockwise direction.
The start will be 100 meters below the regatta start pontoons marked with a red buoy.
All boats will race to the 3k turn in lane 1 which is on the Coachford side (Northern side) of the
regatta course.
All boats must give way to the over-taking boat by slipping into lane 0 if necessary.
All boats must stay on the course and row through the 2k finish (any boat coming off the course
before the 2k finish will be penalised).
The course runs through the 2km finish from where there is a straight line of yellow buoys that run a
further 1km.
Rowers will row through the 2km finish and pick up that line of yellow buoys and stay on the
Northern side (Coachford side) of the course and yellow buoys as they row on to the 3k turn around.
All boats must keep off the single line of yellow buoys when racing.
All boats will row past the 3k which is marked with a big red buoy for 5 to 10 meters before they
turn. Then they will turn and race back towards the finish line on the Southern side (NRC side) of the
yellow buoys, which will bring them into lanes (4 or 5).
All boats will race back up to the finish point which is the same point they started from in lane 4 or 5.
The rowers are timed from the start to the 3k turn, and from the 3k turn to the finish which is the
same point they started from, in total 6k. Both 3k times are added to give an overall 6km time.
The start and finish are at the same point which is at the 100 meter mark which is 100 meters below
the start pontoons.
All boats will cool down above the bridge.
Boats will paddle back after the cool down on the Coachford side. At the 1000 meter mark they will
briefly enter lane 0 for 50 meters before going back to the Coachford side again as far as the 1500
meter mark where a Marshall will instruct them when they can safely cross to the NRC.
Caution when crossing over to the NRC as racing will still be in progress.
All circulation on the course will be clockwise unless otherwise stated at the briefing prior to
racing.
