The following online resources support the Everyday
Mathematics® program and are available to parents and
students at www.everydaymathonline.com.
" Basic Student Home Page
Words to Use—Key vocabulary for each lesson appears in this box to provide review
for students and parents with appropriate expectations as they help their children
with homework.
Lesson Pages—Pages from the Student Math Journal and the Student Reference
Book are automatically posted on the home page to provide parents with the
background needed to help their children with homework.
Read About Math—This short list of age-appropriate books, gives parents a resource
to help improve their children’s literacy skills with math-oriented books. Clicking the
Literature List button along the bottom of the page in the black bar accesses the
complete list.
Home Connections—Here parents can access explanations of the math curriculum,
homework, and fun activities to support their children’s learning:

For each unit, Family Letters in English and Spanish explain the type of activities
students are doing in school and ways in which parents can support their children
✸
The Study Link for each lesson is provided through this button.
✸
Do-Anytime Activities suggest opportunities at home to teach or apply
mathematics concepts: for example, while cooking dinner, getting ready for bed,
and going shopping. Parents will enjoy knowing how to support their child at
home or while on the go.

Take a Test leads students to benchmark assessments assigned by the teacher.

View My Progress leads parents and students to progress reports which show
individual progress toward the Everyday
Mathematics Grade-Level Goals.
Games & Practice—In this box, parents can
access Everyday Mathematics® games that students
have played in the classroom. There are three types
of games available:

Games masters appear here to help students
play at home for extra practice.

The EM Facts Workshop Game button links to
this online game and provides students with
extra, fun basic facts practice at home.

The FactDash Game button links to an online
game which also provides additional basic fact
practice.

Everyday Math Online Homework Assignments
For homework this week we would like you and a parent/guardian
to explore an important resource called the Interactive Student
Reference Book which is located on the Everyday Mathematics
Online website. The purpose of this is to introduce you to this
wonderful resource in the hopes that you will use it whenever you
need it- at home and at school.
Start by going to www.everydaymathonline.com
Type in the Username/Login you were given and click “Log In.”
Then type in the Password you were given and click “Log In.”.
When you are logged in, scroll down to the bottom of the page
where you will see a banner that is called More Stuff You Can Do.
There you will see an icon for the Interactive Student Reference
Book. Click on it.
On the first page you will see the heading,
“Here is how the Interactive Student Reference Book works:”
Please read over this page, which gives an overview of some of
the features of the Reference book and then complete your
assignment.
Your Assignment:
First, on the tabs at the top of the page, click on Glossary.
Next to GO TO PAGE at the top, there is a right hand arrow.
Click on it to take you to the next page in the Glossary. Find
the meaning of the word Median in this glossary and write it
down exactly as written.

Second, on the tabs at the top of the page, click on Index. Next
to GO TO PAGE at the top, there is a right hand arrow. Click on
it to take you to the next page. Find the page numbers for Line
Plots. Pg ____,___. Type in the first page number mentioned in
the GO TO PAGE box at the top and hit GO.
You should see a heading that says Organizing Data.
Click on
next to the Example about Mr. Jackson’s
class’s scores on a five word spelling test.
Drag the corner of the pop up window to enlarge the box to
watch and listen to a video clip about how line plots and tally
charts represent the same data.
Get a parent signature to show that you have completed this
