Dear Parents,
Head Lines
Teachers' union leaders are warning that teacher shortages are costing schools hundreds of millions
of pounds in temporary supply staff. The National Union of Teachers says schools in England spent
£733m last year on supply teacher agencies.
Across the Federation we are very lucky to be able to use our staff to help each individual school in
times of need. Supply staff do not know the children as well, and are often far more expensive;
sadly some schools don't have a choice.

Pupil Attendance Over the past few weeks we have had several visits from the local authority's
EWO (Education Welfare Officer). Pupil absence is being scrutinised more than ever and if your
child's attendance drops below 90%, you can now expect some sort of 'contact' from the local
authority.
Please remember that holidays cannot be authorised under any circumstance. Only weddings,
funerals or emigration planning can be considered for authorised absence. If you still choose to
take your child on holiday, a fine will be issued by the LA after he/she is absent for five school days
or more.
Now the weather is becoming warmer please could your child please bring a water bottle to take with
them to PE sessions. Please don’t forget sunhats and sun cream labelled with your child’s name.
Please note we are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers again this year.
Breakfast Club will run from 8am to 8.50am and will include breakfast for the Children.
The cost will be £2 per session.
After School Club will run until 4.30pm, at a cost of £2 until 4pm and £4 to 4.30pm and
will include snacks. Please remember we can accept childcare vouchers for both clubs.
Don’t forget to book in by Friday of the previous week. Many Thanks.
